I have a 67 Buick Skylark with a 300 2bbl and the dual stage converter power glide. Will a 4 bbl intake manifold from a 340 fit on the 300, or are there any other options?? I would like to make the engine perform a little better and i'm going to school for automotive technology so I have the knowledge, parts are just hard to find for this engine(or have been up to this point. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Nope - it will not fit (at least that's what I've been told numerous times when I tried to research this a couple of years back). Supposedly it's wider.

The only intake that will work without any modification is from a '65 300 engine, the only year that Buick made a 4bbl cast iron intake for the 300. The 64 engine had aluminum heads & intake and the ports are smaller on the 64 aluminum 4bbl intake.

The 65 4bbl intakes are not easy to find. I ended up finding one, bought the entire engine for $200, used the heads & intake, sold the rest as well as my '64 aluminum heads.

Made some cash off the deal overall :)

There are only 3 things you will really have a problem finding. One is the intake, the second is headers, although I hear that Poston's is now again carrying 300 headers, the third is High-Comp pistons - if that's is what you are after. I tried a number of manufacturers for the 10:1 pistons, but ended up finding some on e-bay.

Everythings else is really still available & pretty easy to get.

The alum 300 4bbl intake will work on the later 300 engines...I ran one for almost 10 yrs on my 66 300 motor until I threw a rod on the motor...I just bolted it on, along with a 500 cfm AFB and away I went...No mods to it at all...Woke that engine up...Night and day difference...

I just found a 64 aluminum manifold, and it is going to be bead blasted in a few days. I am going to run a 600 Edelbrock that I have.
These things show up on E Bay occasionally, but they surely are pricey, like $300 for a carb and manifold....One guy had finned aluminum valve covers for a 300 that I probably should have bought just for the "gee Whiz" factor
