I'm in the driveway as my daughter pulls in with our oldest 3.8 a 96 Olds 88. As she does a primer gray Celica with HKS stickers, a fart can and dual level wing that was behind her takes of in a shreak of flatulance and sloppy no chirp power shifting. Becca get out laughing and says "boy is she pissed off." Seems that the Celica driver (female) had pulled up next to the Olds at a light. Its a spot that has about 300 yards of two lane and narrows to a single lane. Light turns green and the Celica driver takes off thinking she is going to be able to cut in front of the "granny mobile." Problem was it was not being driven by granny. The Buick powered 88 left the Celica in the dust. As soon as the choke point was reached Becca slowed down to the speed limit which really ticked off the Celica. Guess we were really shown up by the display of raw whatever as she sped off.

While not a ricer confrontation my Olds 98 with Buick3.8(170 raging horsepower) surprised a new snazzy Triton powered Ford F150 flare-sided shortbox the other day.The Ford and I nailed it coming out of adjacent toll booths a week ago and Buick torque pulled me out in front by an Olds length and held it until traffic caused me to shut off at about 45 mph. While trucks are heavy and Fords are notoriously slow it still felt good to outrun the big 5.4 liter Fomoco. Also priceless to see the look of disgust on his face.Just as good as running with the GS without all the histrionics, wheelspin and noise!Amazing the torque with even the most lowly of the 3.8 motors. Them 3.8 buick engines are pretty fast, in a little car or a big car, the little buick 3.8 is pretty powerful. I own a 1976 buick century, and that thing is a boat, when I first drove it, I thought it sure felt fast for a 6 cyl.! on my front fenders, it says V6, so that gives away the size of the engine, but i couldnt believe how fast it was. And after driving it about for the 4th or 3rd time, I was curious about the cubic inches. So I thought it might have it in my drivers manual, and I looked in it, and it told me the size of the regal and the century's cubic inches, and when I saw what mine was, i was shocked!!!!!:jd: I thought"how could that be"! it said the century had 231 Cubic inches and the regal had 350 cubic inches! :Do No:
I was a little confused, due to how good the acceleration of what my car had, then I went on the internet and did a little bit of research, and found out that it really had the little 231. Then I thought to myself,"if my car has the 231 V6, then how fast is the buick V8's!" I will never know until I drive one, and I look forward too own and drive one. If I get a buick V8, then I will start small and grow large. So, I will probably get a GS 350 or a GS 350 clone, after I get my 1976 buick century restored, then im getting the GS 350.
