Friend of mine with an "over restored" 67 GTO is looking for 3.23:1 gears. He tried Richmond with no luck, any ideas where to source the ring and pinion. It's a posi 8.2 axle, all stock of course. Thanks for the help
Used but make sure you do no confuse these with the 68-70 Buick 8.2 gear 3.23 sets. The ones you want were in some Buicks 67 and earlier back to I think 1965.
NOTHING NEW. All used or if your super lucky NOS...highly doubtful though. your loking between 150-200 for a good used set. Or you might find a guy that does not know what they have for much cheaper. The reasonable ratios in the low to mid 3series sell very well these days with more people feeling the gas crunch. Jim
Glad to here the tops on. The rear is from a pontiac code WF. Which stands for 3.23. Applications are for a GTO. It measures the same drum to drum as my 70. It would install in a 70-72. Gears I do not know if they are interchangable to a Buick 8.2?
Those gears Jim has will fit Buick 1964-1967 buick 1968 -1970 is totally different rear and the 1971 1972 again are different. Good luck on the sale guys. Jim M
the best place to find the 3.23 gears you are looking for is in 64-67 sportwagons and the 64-67 Special with V6 and 3 speed manual. I cant believe i sold a set of these for 50.00 about a year agoou:
I have a set of 3.08 out of a 65 Buick if he would want them, doubtful but thought I would throw it out there...Pulled em out for a guy overseas but just to get them over there would be 160.00 so I have not heard back from him.......
Atter second thought maybe these I have are 3.23.......They came out of a 65 special with a V6 and three on the tree........Does anyone know how to tell what the ratio is........Thanks
Thanks Bob,thats simple enough to figure out...Do not know if they would work for him but if not I will throw a pic and price over in the for sale section and see if anyone can use them.......They came out of a 65 I used to drive and sold the V6 to a fella in Illinois for his Jeep so I know they are good........Thanks
Those gears can be sent flat rate usps from here. Do guys have anything the same? flat rate to you would be 27.00. they will fit in the small box we have. I highly doubt they have stuff like that there huh? That might help your sale. Jim
