This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

28X10's on 80's Regal

Tried to find an existing thread on this in this and other categories, but couldn't seem to find an answer.

I have this '80 Regal that I am building and wanted to use 28x10 slicks. I borrowed a friend's 29 x 10 setup on 8" Weld Drag Lite rims with 4.5" backspace that he has on an 70 Malibu. To my surprise, the only fitment problems were behind the tire where it hit the frame. The diameter of the tire didn't seem to matter, but the side wall width along with the back spacing seemed to be the problem. The overall sidewall width was just under 12", like about 11.9 or 11.8" wide. Would a 3.5 inch back spacing be enough or do I need to have the frame cut and moved in?

I have 15X8 Welds with 3.5 inch backspacing and with my planned tire being 1" less in diameter, and the specs from both Hoosier and MT being about 11.7" in sidewall width, this may fit but wanted to hear from anyone out there; any help from out there would be welcome.

Trust me, I'm no expert, but it seems like the guys on the GN board running 10" wide wheels all had to notch the frame. Might do a search over there and see what you find.
