    I have I rear end out of a 84 olds 442. It's a 7.5 with 28 spline axels.
Will they work in a 8.5 corporate rear end.

Yes , they can work. You have to do some thing about the c-clip looseness though. The gn 8.5 has a larger recess for the larger c-clip that is used with the proper stock gn axle 10 bolt 8.5. I assume these are after market axles you have - designed for the 7.5 28 spline unit conversion. They use the smaller c-clip that the 10 bolt 7.5 rears use in 26 and 28 spline. You need to customize a set of c-clips to do the job or have some one make them ...or maybe just maybe they sell them??? I never checked cause I never had too. Basically you need to add material to the outside diameter of the small c-clip or add inner material to the large c-clip. I will take the small c-clip and add material to the outside and grind flashing. That is the only low buck way. Axle length be very close in length 1/16 " at the most difference if any at all May not be right in most peoples eyes, but I am here to try to help. These ideas at at your own risk if it is done wrong you could loose the axles and tear up the cars quarter or worse someone else in another lane on the highway and kill someone...just be safe. If you think your not up to it leave it to a professional. take care, Jim

Jim, It is 5:15 am I was sleepy until you just scared the @#*% out of me with your worst case senario.
I was going to sell the axels out of the rear end. But it sounds like a odd ball set up for 7.5 10 bolts. Since most I run across are 26 spline.
It doesn't sound like it would be worth my time trying to post them. Or try to modify the clips to work. Thanks for the info.

Hi terrence your private messege box is full...lol Clean that thing up  :pp :) Here is a copy of the messege.

Hi I was not trying to scare you...lol just trying to help you understand what you need to do and what could happen if not done right. What do you want for them cause I use them once in a while. I build rear diffs here in Ohio. Alot of low buck races here...lol let me know I can take care of shipping no problem. Send some pictures how are the bearing surfaces on the axles where the axles and bearing meet. Jim

Well did some one tell you it had 28 spline axles?
007 the axle bearing surface is shot for performance...through the harden surface. Soon you will be hearing noise from this one.
002 the axle seal has worn a groove in the axle...may loose some sealing hear may be ok for awhile too. When the seal can not seal the brake get ruined from the gear oil that passes into the drum... NO STOPPING!!!!
All 7.5 g-body cars came with 26 spline axles from the factory. Only 8.5 10 bolt gn 442 olds came with 28 spline.

30 spline will only work in a 8.5 10 bolt rear NOT IN A 7.5 10 bolt rear.

This isn't the one I have in my car. I definitely have a gn 8.5 in mine. strange thing is this came out of a 80s olds (442 or H/O) I didn't know there was a difference.

The 30 spline that I'm looking for is for my car. I've been searching the turbo regal and other G body sites for someone up grading there set up.

Just found this info on the Olds site. This might explain what happen. 84 was written on the car but if must have been a 83. I didn't check the door panel.
Plus I dont know my olds info like I should. The tip off should have been the two pointy ears at the bottom of the housing. But I'm learning. :Smarty:
