i have a 71 skylark custom with a 8.5 rear end. i was looking on ebay for posi set ups and need to know how to find out if its a 28 or 30 spline. how do i find out? pull an axle and count the splines? check this out and tell me if this would do me any good. remember, i just need something cheap and that will do the job for a year or 2. http://cgi.ebay.ca/chevy-gm-8-5-pos...ewItemQQcategoryZ34208QQitemZ4589178525QQrdZ1

I have never seen an A-body rear with 30 splines, only 28.

    Jeff,
I believe the Chevy 12 bolts for A-body models are 30 spline units.

    Smokin,
Just a suggestion....add your city and state to your header for your posts. Also, would be nice to add your first name to your signature line.

The carrier on Ebay is the GM 3 series posi. You can find those in many GM full size wagons from 80-87 and some full size sedans. If you have some u-pull-it yards near you, most people overlook the wagons for parts.
