  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

OOPSIES! I posted on wrong year, hopefully it deleted.
I had been negligent in my donations. If not for this site, I would have been SO lost on my BUICKS, especially my 1971 GS455.

    Hi Jim,
Have you received my contribution? Or am I just too anxious to see my name printed any place other than on bills or junk mail?
A Buick.... in one form or another often has occupied my thoughts, my time and whatever available cash I've had for a chunk of my 78 years on this planet.
My two Buicks, the 1967 Skylark and the 1976 Skyhawk still pique my interest because....well, just because. Try explaining it. I gave up on doing that a long time ago.
Thank you and the other good folk who put in the time and the effort required to produce such a well thought out and comprehensive website.

    A 76 Skyhawk.
Reminds me of the Ford Cobra and the Tiger Sunbeam.

A small light weight car with a super high performance engine.

I bet your Skyhawk is a real screamer. Hey, I think he just blew off my door handles.

Thanks fore the "like". In looking at your slick Buick reminds me of mine. It was a 1970 Skylark 350 2bbl light green with a black vinyl top. It was my first Buick car. Even though I had swapped nailheads into 3 Chevys by the time I got out of the USAF in 1970. Those Chevrolets were nice. But that's when I discovered the difference. A friend worked at the Kansas City GM BOP plant. They made Skylarks, Tempests, and Olds Cutlass' on the same assembly line. He said, "You think there's no difference between them. So why pay more for a Buick? Well, then you've never had to pick up one of their doors all day long.. Buick's are the heaviest."
I did have a 1965 Barracuda that I dropped in a 1968 340 Commando, and a Monte Carlo in that mix, but it's pretty much been Buicks for me until the 2008 Lucerne with a Northstar V8. After seeing the anti freeze spot on the floor....twice, that was it for me. I traded it in on a 2011 Accura. We had a 1997 Regal with a supercharger, a few Regals before, and a 1979 Turbo LeSabre. I toyed with the idea of a Series II 3800 in the Skyhawk. BUT...nothing sounds like a V8. One friend had a 73 Skylark with and outrageous big block 455 in it. It could almost stop your heart with the sound that came from it! I was asked why I didn't slip a 455 in the Skyhawk instead of the sbb 350. Well, there were simply too many toos; Too long, too wide, too much for the poor little uni-body to handle....not to mention the 7.65 rear end wouldn't last past 2dn gear. The 7.65 third member is doing ok. There's not much traction as it is. |We bought a Skyhawk early in our marriage around 1978 or 79. We drove off in a white 1976 Skyhawk with an odd fire 231. Every time I lifted the hood, I was inspired by all that extra space waiting....just waiting.

I have had Honda motorcycles, a 450, 350-4, 750-4 hopped up to 836, and my recent 1993 Goldwing. Honda has never let me down. Last year I rid myself of the 200 2dr Blazer. I said I'm tired of working on every day cars. I bought a Ridgeline. My 42 year old son said, " that's not a truck".... And drove off in his Silverado. Last week he spent $1600 to have a liquid AC line replaced on it. I jumped in my 2012 Ridgeline, fired up the AC and drove on.

All that still boils down to my Buicks,.... my toys. I haven't lost the door handles on the Skyhawk....yet. ( thanks kindly for the idea! ) But when it happens, after I port the heads and do some other stuff later this summer, I'll go looking for the handles driving my 1967 Skylark cruiser. It's a body off thing running a 1996 LT1 with 4L60E. I wanted FI and cruise control. Got that along with Vintage Air. Was able to squeeze in a complete all leather/suede front and rear interior with 6 way seats out of a 2005 Bonneville. I've had 3 back surgeries. Enough said. It's my daily driver.

Right now, I'm about to embark on a bathroom remodel project which will occupy the next 3 months. After that, I'm tearing back into the SBB 350 in the Skyhawk.
I'm going to do what time wouldn't permit when it was being built in the late 1990s. I've been gradually collecting the tools and the burrs required for the port and polish. I now have the gaskets, and misc. I'm going to use LS4 valves this time. I had polished the combustion chambers and some port bowl work was done. The TA intake will get some love as well. I've found another Buick source on YouTube. He's Dallas Brown and goes by Mr Rodders Neighborhood. He and the Professor Shane Pulidies ( YT Slant Daily Garage ) do a Wednesday Night Tech Talk Live from 7 to 9. All sorts of Buick and Mopar plus general hot rodding stuff is gone over. You can ask questions with comments, and get the answers real time.

Take care and I appreciate the like! Roger
