the brown car looks like Chamberlins 13.38 car when he was in that show, those were the numbers that a magzine rn years ago
Slacker. Good to see you. Got a chance to chat w/your's & Mike's wives for a few minutes yesterday. Did you get all 3 of those quarters in your truck?
More car porn. I didn't take too many pics of the show but here's what I've got. Of particular interest I thought was the 1 of 1 Royal Blue '72 w/o vinyl top.
More, Including a random pic of @rkammer's car (nice to meet you Ray - Were you swapping carbs yesterday afternoon?) & 2 pics of @BYoung's former Rosewood (IIRC) '71 Stage 1 which made an appearance (great to see you again Brian - Sorry we didn't have more chance to talk).
Last but not least, a few from the survivor class incl. Jason's (@buick64203) & Gary's (@BUQUICK) GSXs (great to see you both!). And another appearance to bookend my my 1st post of John Chamberlin's (@collector) Saddle '70 Stage 1 (pleasure to meet you after all these years & again, can't thank you enough! I was truly touched by your generosity). In the pics of the overall show I posted earlier, the row along the outside wall of the circle track is the survivor class - Quite a nice showing. I should've taken a pic of each. Great back story I heard on the '72 GS (350) but I can't do it justice. I think @tdacton talked to the (orig) owner & maybe could elaborate.
Whew. What a week. Made it home in record time (avg. 73.5 MPH including stops). The beater & trailer were flying. Must be quite the sight. Ethan's (@hugger) car was a huge hit! Unfortunately I didn't make @Topcat's WOT but heard it was great (sorry Bill). I have serious sleep/fatigue issues & this week (getting ready plus the drive plus conforming to society) messes w/my schedule terribly. I was wiped out all 3 the evenings and asleep by 8-9PM. Great to put so many more names with faces this year - I won't go into all of them lest I forget someone. @tdacton's v8Buick name tags were great! Of course great to see everyone from the past! There's not enough time but to say hi to some and every year you know more and more so it gets harder. And I never know from year to year who I'll wind up getting into lengthier conversations with. The event could be a week & still not get to talk to everyone at length. All I can say is if you've never been or if it's been awhile, the only way it keeps going is to continue having turnouts like this & last year. I went from '85-98 (& not again until '17) and never really got know many ppl back then. We were kids but a lot of the older guys from back then are legendary in the Buick world and still there so go while you still have a chance to meet them & hear their stories (@Mike Nussell tells some great ones). To meet both John Chamberlin & Fred Catlin (amongst many others) this year & have a nice one on one chat w/Richard Lassiter for a few minutes & to speak again for a minute w/Denny Manner were all truly special memories. I've made a point to be a bit more social since returning and as everyone who goes regularly says, the event is about the cars but what really makes it special is the people. It was a great turnout all things considered. Hopefully it happens next year and is still in BG which is like my 2nd home town but if not there then somewhere. Hopefully those who weren't there will start making plans now to be there next year.
I talked with Matt Gordon as i left today and the 2023 GS Nationals is on the schedule for next year a week later in May ! Great job with the pictures Dano ! I will see you at next years W.O.T meeting. Peace WildBill
Hard to tell for sure from that pic. I saw all three sitting there yesterday (all of which I've hauled, lol) & thought "how is he going to get all that plus bumpers plua a car?"
