Does any one have any information about the production of these cars. I know someone who owns a 81 Regal that came with a convertible top new from Buick. It has a door tag that says Coach Conversions 1981. He is looking to find out more information about these cars, like the number made, value, ect.
I've heard about 87's being sent out by dealers for the mod, but never anything that early. I remember seeing a thread about the 87's before the infamous crash..........but simply said. I know nothing. o No:
I heard about 18 were built by an authorized coachbuilder in Florida. Thats all I know. 1500 built??? Not a chance!
There used to be a guy here in Texas that had built a GN convertible out of one of those cars. This was about 10-12 years ago I think. I think it's been at the GS Nats a few times.
Dan, Where did you here about 18 being built? Do you have any information on them or know were I could find out?
i bought a 81 regal from a man that told me his brother bought the car new from the dealer and had it sent to gm to get it done it has a sticker on the door jam stating that the car is highway safe and were it was sent ,were the tops to the vert done.
81 vert u think you can help to see if it a "factorty convertible" thanks for your time skyphix :beer
Oddly enough I can't seem to find much information on coach conversion, inc. My guess is this is just as factory as those conversion vans or the Hearse, Limousine, etc, type cars are. I doubt it left the Buick factory with a convertable, but I'd be willing to bet that it went directly from the factory to the people who converted it.
thats what the guy said that i bought it off said he ordered it like that ,but i didnt belive him thanks for checking into it
