Still need the bumper fillers...........This car has turned out to be somewhat interesting. It is a 63,000 mile original, very solid body and super nice interior. When I went to the paint place and gave him the paint code the guy says the car color is called cinnabar which is a metallic maroon. Problem is the car is red orange non-metallic! The cowl tag says 77L 11T which is correct for a cinnabar exterior and a white 1/2 top. The dash and rugs are a very deep maroon (looks so dark it's almost like black when you first look at it), so is the carpeting on the door bottoms as well as the factory floor mats. It doesn't sound like the color combo would work..........but it does! Car has a beautiful vinyl interior including perfect white door panels and seats that look great with the interior/exterior combo. I don't remember seeing any red orange Regals running around. Not that I was really looking but it seemed most of them were light blue, maroon, silver etc with similar colored cloth type interiors.

Paint code 79 in the Dupont paint chip chart is red orange which is correct on the car! The chip chart indicated that (code 79) is a Chevrolet/Pontiac color only. Buick it appears did not offer it on the 1980 Regal, but.........it's an original paint car in red orange with a cowl tag that says 77. There is no indication on the tag that says "special" and I doubt that a then 62 year old woman would special order red orange? Could it be an assembly line mess up because the tag does not match the color?

I found out that the woman is still alive at 95 but in a personal home with dementia so I guess I will never know. That is how the car came to be sold by the family. It has all the original documentation in the glove box from the purchase new.
