I have a broken shift cable in my 1979 Hurst Olds. Does anyone know if the regal cable is the same? And if so can someone please provide/sell me one? Thank you
Doc, regal, Monte Carlo, or Grand Prix should be the same as long as it’s out of a car with a 3 speed auto. Anything from 78-87 (88 cutlass). Let me check my stash and see if I have anything.
Darren, get me the length; I may have one. We will be traveling to Ft. Myers in a few days. Thanks, Bob.
According to ATP, the Hurst car is special and requires a Y-399; it’s 28.5” long. It appears to be discontinued. Some Olds folks say Pioneer’s CA-1150 works. CA1150 crosses to GM 22504467. Patrick
Here’s the Pioneer… https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/pioneer,CA1150,shift+cable,8528 Oddly enough, RockAuto does list it but not for the 350 v8 but instead the damn 260 diesel (wtf?) and then they say ‘with dual gate’. More parts catalog fickery… Patrick
Update, that part does not work for the 79 Hurst Olds. the Hurst Olds his and hers shifter requires a different c able. I am still on the hunt for this part. Any information is appreciated.
www.classicoldsmobile.com There are a few individuals there with ‘78-‘88 metric chassis knowledge and parts. There’s www.gbodyforum.com also, but personally I’d try the classic olds site first.
It’s a beautiful car! Sorry that didn’t work. Maybe it was packaged wrong? All three numbers (Y399, CA1150, oe 22504467) cross to each other and say ‘for dual gate shifter’… Patrick
Yeah I’m wondering if it’s for the other type of shifter that they used in the hurst olds. I Will try to get photos of the differences.
