I think that The Sloan Museum can't provide the V.I.N. decoding (microfilm information from GM) for cars Built in 1971. Unfortunately for 71 owners they can decode some 70 cars and 72 and newer... But they can certainly provide you the info from the Domestic And Import Car Report for your model. This will tell you exactly how many cars like you have been produced with just about every optionand trim combinaisons. They charge about 30$ for the service for cars with the same model number as your's (1971 Centurion Convertible 466671) If you want the same information on 2 and 4 door hardtops, that will cost you more. I have been very satisfied with their service and they even translated some information in French for me, even if I didn't ask for it! (I guess that my accent and adress suggested them I would better understand French!) They also send information on some option combinaisons- for example how many cars had air bags and cruise control- and send a price list for options on US models.

The Executive Deluxe as seen here as 37 cars were produced from aug 1 74 to aprox aug 15th then the Park avenue was cancelled by buick board of directors, and later brought back in Sept under delete option package , you could now delete tilt , radio deluxe etc. first 37 were samples to see if Buick family would buy this car as a comp car to Talisman in Cadillac, They were basically a fully loaded deluxe items of list in the best of best. My car was made aug 11 74, and has all options open at this time except sunroof later brought out in order page march 1 revision 3. Super quiet padding interior, more quiet than my other park avenues, rides softer than my 76 park ave, too. have all colors in productions and numbers of consoles and 60/40 combos, including the rare 501 in 75 non console cars. due to complaints at buick. craig

You mean a sunroof was available on 4 door models? I have never seen that!

Does it have the fuel usage gauge? (I think it was available only later that year) Does your Park Avenue have ACRS? It was less expensive to order on the Park Avenue DeLuxe as there was a credit for the tilt/telescope deletion. I'm wondering if any of the 37 were ordered with it.

If I understood well my documentation, the heavy duty 80 amps Delcotron also changed during the year. My 1975 (built in March) has the same model as the 1976 does and I have seen a LeSabre convertible with the same alternator as mine. Do you have a picture showing yours?

Did you order the VIN information from the Sloan Museum for your Park Avenue DeLuxe? If you did, I'd really like to see it.

    Phil,
I know the sloan museum has all 1973 records so I assume it would be possible for me to order this info for 1973 Electras? If you don't mind me asking how much was it for you? I was just about to send out the request for a VIN report on my car.

when out to 100 annv of buick 03, we tried to find any info on the deluxe cars, as far as we can see, the first were 37 cars off the 74 august start, now the union had no recall date at buick local union in flint for workers , thus order date on paper showed aug 1 to dealers, but assm line may have not started till 5 or 7th of aug. The history was buick bought the caddy rights to 'parkavenue' name and 37 were made full tilt, all options and sent to dealers in all colors no choice to dealer in roof and paint combos. Mine is red red not firemist with a black top , thought someone painted it this color till chip code told me it was correct. Actually quite gross looking. But is the date of aug 11 on my build sheet from the door. And all options were there available for the best of best, tilttele, 8track stereo, console, shag full parkave interior and roof, auto ac, cruise, gas use, power door and auto key locks, 6way both seats, full carpet trunk, had uniroyal 5 star spare yet incar. There is no added bumper guards, told were offered after 2nd option page was offered in sept 74. 3rd was march of 75 to now offer 60/40 and only 501 were made in 75. My original alternator failed and was replaced with replacement. My car also shows early in the grill vent infront of snorkel vent to carb, the grill was open to vent more air in later year car. I also have 74 side trim on doors, also known as 225 trim thru 76. Sun roof was offered in Park in 4 doors very rare. Power sunroof drop in roof slide back. I can dig out the numbers to how many of each color sold for 75 and 6, tan was rarest. Ihave had 2 black interior, one blue, and one burgundy. Never had a tan interior park. My 72 Electra has a redone parkave interior in soft leather in white done to park looks in my modified duce with 468cu in , 474 hp duce.

That would be strange since the 1974 had the very same bumpers and bumper guards were available in 1974.

I think that the early 80 amps alternators had a different cooling fan and probably different mounting brackets too.

Do you have a picture of your actual alternator?

There were regular Electra 225 with the large brushed aluminium trim and Limiteds and Park Avenues without it. My 1976 Limited had the large aluminium trim but my 1975 Electra has the small stainless trim. Both styles were availlable on all models in 1975-76. I have seen other Park Avenues with the small stainless side trim.

I almost bought a well used 1975 Park Avenue with a tan interior many years ago. It had a brown vinyl top, wire wheelcovers a brown vinyl top and the large aluminium side trim.
It had the full console and airbags too. Missing options I have seen were: the fuel usage gauge, the trip meter and speed alert.

There was another tan/tan 1975 Park avenue with a brown top for sale in Montreal recently. This one had chrome wheels, full console and most options. Missing options were the airbags, the large side mouldings, the electric rear defogger (it had the blower type).

Other mid-year changes were the horns (my 1975 built in March has two 1976 type horns and to 1974 type horns), the dash woodgrain and rubber part around the steering column (brown at first, black later).
