Hi all, I have a 73 buick with a 2bbl (i think its a rochester) My daughter has been using it after my husband restored it. The issue is, with the weather getting cooler in the morning, she has to pop the hood to set the choke manually, it won't set with the gas pedal. We tried adjusting everything so many times to try to get it to set with the pedal, it just won't. The choke works fine other than that. Any suggestions?

:laugh:Nice screen name. The choke problems can be caused, usually by one of two things. Either the choke thermostatic spring in the intake is rusty and weak, or the linkage to the choke is gummed up. Try spraying down the linkage with Gumout carburetor spray. With the engine cold, opening the throttle should set the choke flap fully closed. There is a fast idle cam that rotates with the choke flap and increases the idle speed. When the engine starts, there is a vacuum operated pull off that opens the choke blade against the thermostatic spring tension, just enough so the engine runs without loading up. Any of these things can cause problems with cold start and cold engine operation.
