Paully, The only way this car can make that trip is on a trailer. It's a $1200 project car that has not been driven in almost 20 years, and is missing the muffler and tailpipe. I did start it up, and it does run but I will not drive it since the brakes are not working.
I've been eyeing this post. I wish it was closer. I'd love to do a 72. Here's a bump for a great looking deal. Good luck with selling it.
I'm sick to my stomach. I've been looking to get the frame straightened and do the bodywork on my '72 since it got hit, but it would be cheaper for me to buy this ride and put all my speed parts on it. It looks just like mine did (a little rougher) when I got it back in '88. I've got the cash - I just have to talk the wife into it. (like that'll happen) Wish me luck... Otherwise, I hope it makes someone else happy!! -Phil
Phil, I have several more pics of the floor pans top and bottom, trunk, quarters, fenders, and doors if you want to see it up close. The car is pretty solid but does have some rust, and very poor paint and body work. Send or post your email address if intersted. Where are you located?
I'm in NW Indiana, actually about 30 miles S/E of Chicago. My floors are solid too, but my trunk is shot, as is the roof, which had more vinyl holding it together than metal. my email address is phil.benton"at"gmail.com -Phil
James, It was a pleasure meeting you and rest assured the car should be on the road this summer, hopefully before my 25th HS reunion in August. My son is pretty geared up too. He actually got up, went outside and helped me hook the trailer up to my truck and he even drove the car off the trailer himself I'll keep you posted on progress. -Phil
Hey James, I've been driving the car on weekends for the past couple weeks. Got pulled over for 79 in a 55 on the way home from my Dad's house on Saturday. Good news was, the cop wasn't around to catch me on the way there. How fast is "D" on the speedometer, anyways...? -Phil
Wow, Phil. You have been busy on the car. Glad you were able to save it from being parted out, and that your drive train was put to good use! Have fun. :3gears:
Hey James, Haven't talked in a while but here's how the car sits as of Monday: It's a far cry from how she was last year: Hopefully next summer brings a new paint job.
Nice work Phil. It's amazing what a set of wheels and tires will do for a car. :TU: Keep it up and send more pics after it gets fresh paint.
The wheels and tires were the last addition for the year. What you don't see are the front disc brakes from my old car, the SD Trans Am swaybar, Energy suspension bushings, 2" drop SSBC spindles, all new stainless brake lines and hoses, UMI upper rear Super Control Arms, home made rear lowers, the Lockrite Locker, TA rear girdle cover and Spohn adjustable pro touring rear swaybar. I deleted the AC and added retractable 3-point seatbelts. Plus my old drivetrain. I have to thank you for getting me back into the hotrod scene. My son has the bug now and he's been negotiating wrenching time for driving time, at an hour worked for 1/2 driving time.
