need some advice for my 16 yr old sun. loves muscle cars, wants to work on a carb'd engine. found a 72 skylark, 350. 2 grand. 119K miles. good shape, rust behind wheels, otherwise solid. All original, ac works. worth it? or too much>? Thanks
it is gold with a black top. looks original. my son is really into this, i just dont want to over pay or get taken. he thinks it is a great deal, but why not. its dad doe ray me.
If it runs good and doesn't smoke real bad or tranny slips it sounds like a real good deal. Guy up the street has a 54 with no engine and he wants $1500. He should be giving it away, so $2k sounds good to me. Check on ebay to see what some others are asking. http://motors.listings.ebay.com/Buick_Skylark_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ16124QQsocmdZListingItemList
I just paid $4k for a decent Skylark. Everything I found for $3k or less turned out to be a real POS.
Re: 1972 skylark, 2K, too much - updated 9/18 update; it is a four door. got him down to 1750. Leaks a little oil. Sound good? 4 barrel edelbrock carb, original 2 barrel carb and original hub caps with car. Gold with white top, not black. Don't know what I was looking at Thanks
Let's face the facts, your son is 16 thus making him a rookie driver. He like muscle cars but your not going out and buy him a GSX. I think the Skylark would give him better protection than a mid 80's V6 Mustang or a Sunbird if god forbid an accident occurs. The Skylark (even a 4 door) will always be cooler than driving a front wheel drive econo-box. My daughters first car will be a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker. She can take out about 2 SUV's and a honda before she will get hurt. I think the price is right.
put it on the rack. frame is solid. thanks for all the input. son loves it, just wants to work on a 350 with a carburetor. this will get him and his friends around in style and safely. gas mileage, well, there is none
