Agreed. I like it! What do you think of the mileage claim? I can buy it... One things for sure, however it runs now, it would run much better with a new 2 1/2" exhaust with performance mufflers and an X pipe.
Yea, maybe so - Good eye. I didn't look that closely. I have all the sheetmetal here to fix it, lol. I want another '72 as well. Just not the time/space/$. Weird place for frame rot seemingly View attachment 568846 View attachment 568847 View attachment 568848 Seems possible based on the condition of the interior.
It looks more like the frame was ripped, the rest of the frame does not look that rusted to have holes. Part of the bracket is still for the AIR pump. I do not see the third small water pump pulley. I think I have everything to reinstall the AIR pump, 72 air cleaner and 1112016 distributer.
It certainly doesn't look tapered at the edges as one would expect with the "box" holding debris over the years and rusting from the inside out. Could someone have welded there to pull? I think the right fender maybe unoriginal too. The Stage 1 / GS emblem is off a little (area between the G & S should always point to the center of the A ), and the GS emblem is "floating" off the sheet-metal. This would indicate the studs are compromised or the holes were not drilled to the proper dimensions. The Stage 1 doesn't follow the body line correctly either. As it goes forward it gets to close.
Car is a great daily driver. Really enjoy seeing the Antique Gold Poly paint. I would like this one to.
No it's a legit Stage 1. That firewall tag is correct for a big block '72 GS. ALL '72 Stage 1s should have a AIR pump. We own VIN 100048 which was built on day 1 of '72 model production and it has the required air pump. This car is simply missing the A.I.R. setup and has had the air cleaner swapped out for a '70-'71 piece. I've inspected this car closely when it was at the GS Nats a few years ago. I exchanged info with the owner that day and told him to let me know if he decides to sale the car. He has contacted me twice now and his idea of the value was far, far, beyond what I feel that it is worth. He is a super nice guy and an extremely talented custom car builder (Ridler award contender in years past), but not a Buick guy and was out of touch on the price when we spoke. I suspect that BAT did not agree to his idea on the price. The car is not a survivor. It is an unrestored car that has plenty of issues. Do I like it? Sure do. Would I pay top dollar for it? Absolutely not. It has too many issues as seen by the previous posts.
Thx. Can't get much by on here... Suprised that BAT accepted it at all. Besides that my prev. '70 Stage 1 4-sp. (@Brett Slater's black car) was a super nice car, what was pretty unique about it was that it was completely unknown in the Buick world before I got it.
ugh!!! The dreaded incorrectly painted '72 GS grille. So the grill has been replaced too. This area is supposed to be painted black. Easy fix but still a pet-peeve.
Gary, did owner disclose frame issue? If so, an explanation? If not, your speculation? All numbers? Lastly, what's a fair price for this particular car?
I’ve noticed that the people on fb marketplace have started getting either more realistic (or more desperate for cash) when listing older car and truck projects. At least they’re asking price is in negotiating range of normal… Patrick
We're going off topic but there were 4 price drop realty ads in my area last week. I hadn't seen that term in quite a while.
Yeah, I got a friend in real estate. He said obviously times were good if you were selling recently, but as an agent now, we're past the "multiple offers over ask on day 1" kind of thing, and he said getting sellers to wrap their heads around that has been hard.
On the subject car, considering the issues, NOM, etc., @14k (+5%) it's already higher than I'd want to pay for it. Yea, it'd be fun to drive but it needs everything and is only going to get worse.
