1971 Riviera cowl tag decode help!

    Hello,
    I recently traded for a 1971 Buick Riviera, I am having trouble decoding the cowl tag plate. any help would be much appreciated!

    TR 686 50 D PNT
    02D

    None of these codes state the engine size, trans type, and rear end?

    That is true but that year the 455 was the only cid. You could get a 455 HP engine but to my belief it is not reflected in these numbers. But some Riv expects can jump in and correct me.


    The trans are all Turbo 400s that year.


    If it is not a GS then the standard rear gear was a 2.93 in 71. For a GS 3.42 I believe.
