I received an e-mail from someone.

No pictures, but here's the description -

    - it is a '71
    - it's straight
    - no dents or dings
    - chrome looks ok but you would need to rechrome it if you wanted it to be show quality

    Any opinions?

A rechromed one just sold this morning on ebay for a little over $600.
An original that has never been touched might be worth $500 to the right person???????

    Worth MORE than that $600

If it had a good chrome job? That's the question though, how good was the re-chrome.:Do No:

The last I saw went for $800 that was re-chromed, but they did say it had show chrome. That makes a difference.

For SHOW CHROME, expect to pay at least $500 alone.

Mine was NOS, installed on a the car that saw maybe 1,500 miles in 15 yrs., no dents and still looked good. But after learning a bit about chrome plating (and seeing their work), I decided I'd have it plated too. They told me $400, the bumpers are just SO big.

Bottom line, I think it is prolly worth $400-600 in good condition. Just don't think it is cheap to have it re-chromed. Another thing, selling these "difficult to ship parts" (or expensive) is NOT always easy, another consideration if you need (or want) to sell it.

I know first hand what these are worth. 71's are much harder to find than 72's. I would say $500. As for shipping it is really not a big deal. Lots of bubble wrap and you are good to go. I shipped one from Michigan to Texas for $35 using UPS.

I have an N-25 bumper (I think it is a 71) in very rechromable condition that I may decide to part with (possible trade for nice 70 bumper), to someone who really needs one. I dont have the brackets for it however.

Rob, it is easy to tell the difference. A 72 has 2 holes in the center for the BUICK emblem a 71 does not. Also, the 72 will have holes around the lenses for the rubber that surrounds them.

It is over in my brothers basement (I ran out of storage at my house so I am taking his over also:grin:) but I have a crappy photo that I took when I was going to sell my car (I'm glad nobody bought it). I think from the photo that it is a 71.
