I forgot that - It's been a long time since I watched. Seller took a haircut on that as did the previous seller. Well bought IMHO as they say or if not, at least about what it should be worth.

Last time it sold was the same day I consummated the deal on my current matching #'s '70 Stage 1 4-sp.

Yes , the price down, this car last sold for 140 K the market has been going down. Now is not the time to sell. Parts are even hard to sell right now.

  6. Max Damage

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Looks like no reserve and sold for 55K?

Not bad for no paperwork and a replacement block.

Is that a new thing? I have watched their auctions and have seen people pull their reserves during the auctions.

Just about all bj auctions are no reserve
They have high end cars usually on Saturday that sell with a reserve but mostly all no reserve

Maybe I'm wrong here, but IMHO for a fully restored, numbers matching '70 Stage 1 4-sp., $100k is reasonable. IIRC they were asking $80-85k for the "trailer hitch car" and then (maybe) dropped it to high $70's. Again, for a survivor (orig. paint, low mi, highly optioned, #'s matching, great color) '70 Stage 1 4-sp, at the time I thought that car was well worth mid/high $70's. It was/is quite possibly the nicest orig. example in existence. Of course that alone doesn't make it worth that much but it was that together w/being what it is.

Edit: The '70 & '71 cars got mixed in here. Obviously I was referring to the '70. On the '71 (very nice car seemingly), I thought that was a great deal when it sold for low $40's (I know @alain was understandably not very happy) and someone got a very respectable car @ BJ even for mid $50's.

Trailer hitch car was Buy it now at $79,000 forever then was at $69,000 for quite a while.
I have never seen a hardtop sell for $100,000 other than GSX's

Yup...it was Alains car and I was the one that wanted to purchase and offered high 40's which he turned down. He then brought it down to Kissimmee Florida which is only 1.5 hours from my house and ended up selling in the 30's. He must have spent a few grand in gas and hotels, food, etc. I ended up buying another car before the auction so I had no interest in going there and buying his anymore. I went back and forth with him to try to buy...but he was not willing to negotiate... a non numbers matching 71 for what I was willing to pay was very reasonable. Guess he found out the hard way.
