I just bought a 1971 Centurion 455-4 drop top in need of a total restoration. I am looking for any info on this model, production numbers, etc. The VIN# is 466671Y145269. Thanks

Thanks. 2,161 made, Im thinking it's going to be a little difficult to find body panels. It needs a RR quarter panel.

Ask Smartin. He has the same car.

I have lots of production numbers....options, colors, trim, etc..

You'll need to find a donor car for the quarter panel. Unless you get insanely lucky and find an NOS one....

No pictures yet. I still have to get it home.

I had to use my imagination a little when I looked at it, but this one isnt quite ready for the crusher, at least I hope it isnt.

    Same as LeSabre

The Centurions use the same sheet metal as LeSabre's. The hood is different (no vents) but the rear quarters are the same.

Good rust free 2 door LeSabre's appear on e-Bay from time to time and I never have the funds. Strangely it's usually cheaper to buy a car with 2 good quarters than to buy just the panels.

It's true quarters are more expensive than a car. A junkyard had 2 used but rustfree for $2500, i found two NOS GM quarterpanels for $600.

I have seen quite a few lesabres and centurions on ebay lately. Goodluck.

Thanks all. The LeSabre might be a good option to look into.

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at it when I get home. I'm trying to find out all I can about my new toy that I just picked up on Saturday. The VIN is 466671Y154297. Unfortunately it looks like there isn't alot of extra info I can get from the 71 VIN. I know I have the 455-4 and 400 tranny but I suppose I'll have to crawl under the car (yet again!) to see if I can get the diff info. If you find any of that other thread info I would love to see it (so I know what to start nosing around for at the automotive flea markets/scrap yards. Thanks again! :beer

I'd like to hear more about your car Glenn! Like what options it has, colors, etc..

It is red now (was originally that Cinamon color I think) w/black top. She will need to be repainted in the spring and some bodywork redone (Guy I got it from had a rotted tire blow out and damage the lower right rear quarter). Aside from that and the other stuff I listed she is in pretty good shape! The radio lights up (AM/FM/8 Track) but does not make any noise. I'll have to yank it out and open it up and see what is going on inside. It has an electric front bench but the track is seized (on the bright side the motor works so I just have to remove the bench and free up the track). It came with a parade boot (the snap on one not the fiberglass one). To get it on the road all I had to do was put on some new rubber and do front brakes. Not a bad deal for $2000 (in my opinion anyways)!
