    I saw some dialogue earlier on the board concerning my car that was for sale on ebay last week and wanted to answer several of the questions to ensure the future integrity of the Buick in my garage. As boring as this may be to some I do apologize. Why sell a 1970 original Stage 1? Well many of us in the Musclecar world have owned numerous cars. My family has owned 442's,GS,Corvette's,GN's, and GTO'S throughout the years. However, one in particular of these countless cars still haunts me.. My 1969 GTO convertible RA3. This was my High School and College Car which was sold two months prior to the birth of my son (that is too long of a story for this forum). While going through some boxes several weeks back my wife came across the original Protect-o-plate which of course had the Vin#. This began a search with the assistance of friends in which we located the car and began making a deal to buy it back. That is the ONLY reason why we decided to sell our Buick as we couldnt keep both. We listed the car on Ebay and received three offers off-line for the car. We ended the auction due to receiving three contingent offers. During the process we received several questions as to the front fender being a different color..... Why didnt we post other pictures several on this board asked? It was sold , and it was raining in INDY all weekend long and this car literally has never been wet with rain since it was painted while this isnt a HUGE deal the car was already sold. We have attached a few shots of the car away from the house in which you can clearly see the beauty of the car and its paint. Yes to answer another member it is hard to match Silver. That is why we paid the price to ensure our car was correct. One member noted that the original Protect-o plate was marked SR AND BB, this is true. As many of you know GM was on the brink of a major strike prior to these cars rolling out . Lets face it anyone amongst us who has worked on a production line (no offense) things sometimes happen that are a little strange when left to humans. With the exception of a member who has aOne owner car this is as documneted a car as most will ever see. In collecting these for 18 years I have never seen a car documented from day one through each owner as this one. We have the first tune-up and Oil change which was completed from the factory dealer. The Vin's all match (original window sticker,Protect-o plate, cowl, block, distributor, trans, and carb.) As many of you here know the coding for Buick 455's were as follows; SR= 455 GS, SF 455, and SS= for the most part Stage 1's. However, we have seen some authentic stage 1's with SF blocks that were flawlessly documented as original cars. Some on the board asked had anyone seen the car? One of our members did in fact look at our car , John Chamberlain came by to look at the car some here know John and his reputation in the Buick community. I have attached his comments to this email as well. John has one of, if not the largest collections of 1970 Stage 1's in North America. Unfortunately, after all this the GTO deal fell through. We then decided based on this to keep our Buick. So I hope this answers any questions about the car. I appreciate the forum and its members looking out for each other. I have no hard feelings towards any here only wanted to clarify the quality of our car.
    Note from John;
    "Hey Steven --
    Great meeting you too! That sure is a nice Stage 1 you have there. Have you decided to keep it for sure?

    I think you'll get a real kick out of the Indy Buick event. LOTS going on and getting exciting. See you there!

    Welcome to the Board, if you haven't been welcomed already. Nice car! My Stage 1 convertible appears to have come from the factory with a Riviera coded carb, that is dated correct for the build date. I'd love to have a "correct" 246 carb, but in the end, it wouldn't be correct for MY car. You'll find that the more knowledgable and wise folks here are a little careful to ding someone's car.....I can understand, though, when the kind of money these are going for, forces some critical questions. I really like your car. I'm always interested in Black over Silver 1970 Stage Ones. Like you, I had a weak momement last fall and thought I'd sell my 40K mile original paint Stage One 4 speed w/air 1970 that I've owned since 1976, still with the original tires. I got a lot of adverse commentary here at this site, but also some real nice comments as well, such as that from Adam Whitman who has actually seen the car. In the end, I received a real 69K offer (car was bid to 71K before I decided to pull it), but I decided to keep the car. I've attached a picture of the car at a local car show taken two weeks ago, with the original owner (1970-1976) (the guy with the Prowler shirt). I've also attached two more pictures, one with me in front of the Stage One (in the red shirt). Good luck with your Silver Stage One.

    ps: my car has never been repainted, but the front fender looks slightly different in the picture. Silver is hard to photograph. In person, the car looks like it is all the same color.
