Im close to completing a conversion from a TH 400 with console to a 4 speed and have a question about the back-up lights. Can the auto neutral safety switch mounted on the steering column be retained to work the back-up lights, or do I need a new switch for this? If this is the case, does anyone have an original that they would like to sell?
I have the neutral safety switch mounted on the clutch pedal just trying to solve the back-up light issue.

I have been looking at the same thing and you can get them new from opg. By the way, where did you find the clutch pedal switch? The only source I found was a guy on Ebay and it's $75, it looks the same but he lists it as fitting a Pontiac, and we all know how that can turn out.

You have to use a manual trans backup light switch.

    tubecatgs Finally a 4 speed......

I have the same problem.. I converted from 3 speed manual on the column to Muncie 4 speed.... I do have a reverse light switch and I looked and you can buy them on ebay under "Muncie reverse light switch" that mounts on the tranny but don't know where to patch it in in the harness? Anyone know the best way or what hires to hook up? This might help us all.. thanks

Doesn't the reverse lockout linkage engage the backup lights by turning the steering column just like a column shift car?
Mike Garrison sells the kit. I've purchased a few from him now and they work very well.
