Here are the details of the engine I have. 1970 "SF" code 455 1970 Stage 1 heads were rebuilt and Level1 ported by Greg Gessler Standard Bore Hyperutetic 10-1 pistons purchased from the GSCA Lunati hydraulic cam 230/240 @ .050 .496" lift w/1.55 ratio rockers Poston Aluminum Valve Covers Edelbrock B4B Intake (spreadbore) Edelbrock 850cfm Q-jet Poston Distributor with Crane conversion / Rev Limiter and Ignition Coil Plug Wires [/IMG] [/IMG] NOTE: Engine is complete, but does NOT include the following items; Alternator or bracket, gauge sending units, motor mounts, starter, P.S. pump, P.S. brackets, exhaust manifolds or the storage stand that is shown in the pics. This engine has about 5000 street miles and about 20 1/8 mile and 10 1/4 mile passes on it. It ran a best of 12.16 in the 1/4 in my stripped down 72 Skylark not to bad for a lightly warmed over 455 Stage1 setup. I bought this engine from Al Fiandaca up in New Jersey. It is sitting in my shop. I took it out of the Skylark back in February and put a 464 in. to satisfy my need for speed. $2500.00 obo I am willing to break it down and sell the short block, heads, intake and other parts if needed. Thanks for looking,
Alan, as discussed, interested in the engine. Hate to be redundant but just to be 100% sure: I have a 72 Electra with 72 Electra accessories. I should have no problem just dropping it in there right? Any work that needs to be done on it? Blatantly idiotic questions, but after all the $ I've spent I need to be real careful these days.
Kaivan has first choice on this engine. Kaivan, I'm no 225 expert but I'm sure all your questions about fitment will be answered before the weekend is over. I am almost positive that it will bolt right up.
You should have no problems transfering over all your brackets, water pump, etc. to this engine Kaivan. Just as an example, my '70 Riviera which had an SF 455 originally now has the rebuilt WF 455 that was in my '72 Electra. Only real difference was the Electra used the long snout water pump, and the Riv the short snout which I switched over. Not sure about being able to keep that carb spacer and still have hood clearance though. o No:
Kaivan, I can pull the spacer out and put a new carb gasket and studs in for you before it leaves the shop if hood clearance is an issue.
Alan, I may be interested in complete engine as listed. Put me in line. I am sending a PM with a couple questions.
That would be nice Alan. Would it be possible for you to drop it off at the shop instead of my place?
The motor mounts are bolted in the other set of holes on the block than an A body model. Be sure they are free of debris before you bolt yours on there. Hate to snap a mounting boss off. Besides that, you should be all set. A good deal to boot!
I would agree. It was a pleasure talking to you. Quick question, is it possible to put headers on this beast? If I get a nice engine to work with, I want to baby it as much as possible.
Kaivan, Go over to the T/A Performance website they sell some headers that will fit you car. I'm sure some Electra guys will speak up about which headers fit best on these cars.
