Has anyone heard of paint code #15 in 1970? I looked at a GS 455 convertible the other day and I am sure that is the code I read... TIA
Rob, I can't find a code 15 for paint in 70. I have 10, 14,16, 19,25,45 & 75 that may resemble the number 15. Take another look and try to clean the tag up a little. Here are the colors for the above codes; 10 - Glacier White 14 - Silver Mist 16 - Tealmist Gray 19 - Regal Black 25 - Gulfstream Blue 45 - Seamist Green 75 - Fire Red Duane or Marco are really the ones to ask. I hope I helped a little.
I looked in my info and found the same as you. Although I looked at the car under street lights, I did see what I thought was the original color...a very light blue, maybe similar to a robins egg. I'll wait for someone who knows more than me chime in. Thanks for your help. Rob
A light robins egg blue would resemble Azure blue, that would be Paint code 20 If I read right. Definately check the tag again.
Chris, Yeah, thats the same color as Johnnos 70 GS. Thats a Riviera color. Wasn't his the only "A body" GS car that color? Maybe not? Interesting.
What's interesting is that I cannot find a cowl paint code 15 on any GM vehicle in 1970. Closest I found was tealmist gray, code 16. There is what looks like an Opel color 15, but it doesn't resemble any blue color. It looks like it's called chartreuse. o No: Sorry - Maybe get some documentation (Sloan/GS Historical Society) to check it out further.
Any color you want, this is your world... Isn't it ironic that a paint mystery is from a guy named "Bob Ross"????
Rob, go check the Chevelle color codes...... I swear i've seen a 15 code on that or a Camaro... wouldn't be the first time I saw a cross breed of colors.. Jim
I just checked the entire GM line for 1970 and the only code 15 that I could find was for Corvette "Laguna Gray". o No:
I'm sure I'll see the car again and will try to get a photo of the body tag. Thanks for the help! Rob (not Bob) Ross :Smarty:
