    Hello fellow Buick lovers.
Don't miss your chance to own a real nice 1970 Original Buick Riviera:TU:
An associate is the second owner of a 1970 Buick Riviera and he would really love for this car to go to a real Buick Lover.

The car is 100% original with the exception of the front right fender, hood and bumper/grill.

This is a highly optioned car from the factory with power windows, center console, bucket seats, cruise control, speed alert, original AM radio, power brakes (4 wheel drum), 455 engine, 400 trans and Air Conditioning. The car has its original tan interior, which really looks great (I don't have the pictures anymore) :Do No: , and it is even still wearing it's original faded yellow/creme exterior paint.

The car now runs, but has a knock (will need a rebuild).

This car is a true gem for anyone who ever wanted to own a 70 Riviera.:3gears:

The owner is asking $1500 for this vehicle but the seller is very motivated to sell and if you mention that you saw this car on the "V8buick board", he is willing to consider reasonable offers on the car. He will work with you!

This is not my car, but if anyone has questions about this car you can contact Michael (the owner) at (818) 669-6000. :beer

    Ah, a Riveria :bglasses:

Yeah, we have a broom that's 55 years old, but still original.
We have only replaced the stick 3 times, and the brush 8 times.....

    I did didn't I :TU:

Ok guys, since both of you are Riveria owners and have a lot of knowledge about these cars, What should the owner more realisticly be asking for this car?

Engine not running, and in this state ?
    I would offer him US$ 650.
(and only if I could pick it up locally)

By the way: It's Riviera :TU:

Wow, you are a tough customer....I know he won't go that low.

I forgot to mention that he has all the missing parts (front eyebrows, moldings, name badges, etc) that are seen on the pictures to go onto the car, so it is not quite that bad.

He could definitely get more than $650 for the car even if he parted it out.

That is ok though at least your are honest about how you feel :TU:
Like I said, not mine and I just hate to see a restorable car like this go to waist....

Well, let's see what Dale is thinking that the car is worth, or any other board members.

Maybe the owner should put all the missing parts back on the car, put air in all tyres, clean up the engine bay and make sure the engine is running again.

But still I see things like a cracked windscreen, bad rust around the rear window and not one single body part that isn't damaged.

I wonder what the boot will look like with that rear window leaking, or the area under the rear seat.

Bad boattail, your points are all well made and these were my suggestions to him as well :TU:

The gentleman is older, so he does not currently have the time or the health to do this, but he said he may ask a few of his friends to help him out with this in the future...:idea2:
Lets see what happens. Thanks again for your honesty :beer

    Its worth between $600-$800.

Not trying to burst this guys bubble but lets face it driver condition 1970 GS 350s are going for $6500. Unfortunately Rivieras are not as desirable as a GS, especially not a '70. They are the step child Riviera and dont demand nearly as much attention as a '63-'69/'71-'73. I hated the '70 Rivs until we bought one recently, they grow on you and I would keep one in my stable. Ours is in much better shape (still needs a resto but you can drive it anywhere and its a real solid car.) and we will be asking around $2000 for it.

I suspect your likely buyer is looking to do that for his profit. After bearing the purchase price and the cost of transportation and the time he would not be making a lot.

I paid 2500 for my 68 last jan and it was in much better shape. I drove it home frome Chicago to Fla.

$500 tops - lets be honest, right now it's just parts car status only !! :TU:

I'm back. After an exceptionally lazy Father's Day.

    $500.00 - $650.00?
I was feeling a little more optimistic at $1250.00?
I think the looks of the hood and that fender really makes an impact with what otherwise looks like a very solid, for the most part clean car. The paint color is called Sandpiper Beige.

As was mentioned. The '70 is just one of those lost years that you need the right buyer at the right time for it. It certainly would be an awesome parts car! But at the same time looks better than that.
Maybe a couple of people could help the guy out and clean it up? Get it running?

I am glad to hear that you had a good Father's Day :beer

The owner said that the guys next door to him may help him clean the car up. I don't disagree with everyone's comments, but I don't have the heart to be so brutally honest with the guy like people have been on this thread.
History does paint a pretty bad picture for this year (70) and after doing some research after Bad Boattail's comments, I now understand that this was not a very desireable year (as a matter of fact it was one of the worst years until after the boattails. The designers really botched this one bad and took away the hidden headlights which was a very cool feature. After looking at the history of these cars, I personally like the 63, 65, and 67 models :TU:

The owner had told me that he will probably ask some of his neighbors to help him out and maybe even get it running (it ran before he parked it two years ago). We will see what he does. I really do appreciate all of the gentle constructive comments and hopefully at some point, I can get him to face reality about a reasonable price for the car, but the guy is really old and has very little time for the car, this is why he is willing to sell it now :beer

Bill Mitchell instructed studio chief Donald Lasky to give the '70 Riviera a more French look using the Delage for inspiration. That's why it ended up with the heavier looking rear quarters and skirts.

Even though I own one, it isn't my favorite year either. My favorites are '65, '66, '67 and '71.

Oh! and the '95 thru '99's too! :idea2:

    1937 Delage.

1965 & 1967 are my favourite years, but I also like the 1970 Riviera very much.

. . . personally, for reasons unknown, I'm sorta partial to those '68s, but each generation is unique - if I could afford it, and had enough space, I'd probably have one of each, side by each, in my fleet !! LOL :beer
