My 1970 Hood is pretty well rusted at the front edge and a few other places. I bought a 71 hood which I would say is in better shape than my 70. Obviously we all know there are differences including the spring mount and some under hood differences in shape. I have a fabricator friend who can cut and piece the parts so that the underhood of the 71 would look just like the underhood of the 1970. My opinion is that when he finishes there would be no visibility of modification. (He's good). Will there be any way of then telling that my "modified" 71 hood isn't actually a 1970?? Signed "doctor Frankenstein" ---- or alternative B -- he could cut the spot welds on both and put the 71 outer skin on my 1970 hood structure....and respot the welds. Comments??
There's a date code. I'd have to see if it shows year or just month. However, maybe this isn't necessary. @donny1973 has a very nice '70 hood he was looking to trade for a '71-2 in equally nice cond. & was going to do the same thing you were to make his '70 look like a '71-2. You guys just need to trade.
