Agree that it must be more than 19,000 miles. Someone must have dragged the snot out of that car , one stoplight at a time. Doubt it is the original block. Buyer beware.
This is a 50-year-old car we're talking about here if it still has its original drivetrain it's a true survivor even if it has some touch up. It may have had a minor Fender Bender at one point in his life. Great car either way.
Yes I noticed too ...That brake pedal pad sure looks like it has more than 19,000 miles on it. I could believe 119,000 miles.
I learned last year that it is really hard to "know" about these close to 50 year old cars. At Back To the Bricks last year we had a collection of some of the finest Skylarks in the country and the most knowledgeable Buick people in the world. The little differences on even this level could drive you crazy. Glad I am not into that level of detail. Also people get something and they really believe what they are telling you is absolute truth. I have a friend that swears he has a real 72 GSX. Flat out fact he does not.
My 71 GS455 has only 30K original miles but it has been a drag car possibly since day one.....so a bit of wear and tear! It does have the original radiator cover decal tho.....
trying to get a idea what the value of this car is with the consideration that it might not be a 19,000 mile car with the few problems seen from the pics shown. it seems it is a really nice driver quality gsx to me. I am thinking $75,000ish? Charlie,,,
Hard to determine reasonable market value without knowing what's there and what isn't. $75K might be a good starting point but could go up or down. Since the seller is at $135K, I'm guessing $75K ain't bringing it home.
$75k plus commission was the selling price last June, I think you are right, it would take more than $75k to buy from them. https://www.leakecar.com/vehicle/32563/1970-Buick-GSX-Stage-1/
Thanks Chris for posting the link, that transmission is definitely been out of the car the BB tag says it all here's what an original 60,000 mile stage one trans looks like.
Gotta laugh at this statement in the link provided by Chris... "Believed to be only GSX Stage 1 in existence with matching serial numbers on vehicle, the engine and the transmission. All information documented by GSX Historical Society president, Wayne Roberts. Also original rear end with stamping and original carburetor".
thanks!! now that's got some good pictures to sink your teeth into and some good info to. wonder why they did not take a pic of the SS block stamping? the block vin stamping looks good. would be nice if you could read the historic society pages. the paint is not as nice as I originally thought. description says most highly optioned gsx in existence??? still, would be a great driver at the right price. Charlie,,,
I would buy the one in Denver for 90k less than this car any day if I was looking for one. Just my opinion
If the Vin on the engine and trans do match it would be a great car, but unfortunately Someone lied about it being 19,000 miles original car. That's why it's sold for 75k the last time.
I am trying to educate myself on these cars because i am in the market for a gsx that I can drive and enjoy. I don't know much on these buicks yet but I think it might have a aluminum water pump. don't want to pick it apart but it is for sale so might as well find what the whole story is!! Charlie,,,
Charlie, here's food for thought there was a triple black 70 stage one with 26,000 original miles Time capsule sold at mecum Florida a couple years ago for 90 K bench seat car here are some pictures
This was a well-known car that has been to the GS nationals and has been well studied to be a real Capsule.
