I am looking for a 1970 GS hood moulding in nice shape with no broken studs. I do not need perfect chrome but I want one with no pits. Basically something that can be rechromed on is fine enough for upper level driver car.

I have many parts to trade so if you might need something send me a PM with info.

Otherwise I will buy outright. I am in no hurrry im just trying to collect all the parts I need for my GS-350 clone project before I start tearing the car down.

    Thanks
    Dustin

    . .i Got One!!!

Hi Dustin! I have EXACTLY what you need. A year ago, I sent out a 1970 hood trim to be restored. .it came out B E A U T I F U L ! ALL studs are intact too. Absolutely Gorgeous! You may/may not know this, but the 70 GS/Skylark hood trims actually aprear the same once the hood is closed. Only a TRUE GS enthusiast would know that the actual GS trim is about 3/4 of an inch deeper than a Skylark. Other'n that, can't tell! Anyway, my trim is available for $160 plus shipping. READY TO BOLT ON. :TU:
AND. . I may be interested in working a partial deal on something you may have that I need. Lets talk! Email me direct PenWheelz@ij.net and I'l send you a few digi-pix:  Wheelz, Tampa Bay

    Chris Lott 4 speed finally

The '70 GS trim is almost twice as tall as the skylark trim. In other words, a skylark trim on a GS hood leaves about 1/4" or so of hood lip not covered by trim. Just FYI.

    Dustin,

Ryans-gsx has one on ebay right now. He started a thread with his parts for sale. Also has a set of tri-shield mirrors and the three pieces of chrome for around the grille!

    hood bar

yea dustin contacted me about wanting to buy one but I have a very hard time pricing parts so I like to put it on ebay and to be honest I want to make some money so I can put some into fixing my GS plus I have learned that some things I am way off and want to much so they dont sell and some I am giving away like I said its hard to price items when you are not a dealer. People ask if I have parts and a lot of times and I do but I can never get them to make an offer on items. People want me to price it so with ebay it is just so much easier for a seller I am not a parts dealer so pricing is a bit tricky you dont want to be to high and run someone off but you dont want to give it away. I think we should have a area that we can list items but not like ebay just list the items and have people PM an offer for say 2 days and then the person can take what he wants I know the board rules say must have a price I am just thinking maybe we could come up with something of our own (just a thought) I am not complaining as I love this board the way it is I just think all things can be improved on.

Is the one on the red car or the yellow car correct for a GS?

    hmmmmmmmmmmm

jim are you sure the red one has a 70 GS bar as I recall your red car ( AT ONE TIME ) had a 1971 hood bar on it when we where at farmington and my eyes may decieve me but I think that is a 1971 in the pic ( I could be wrong just checking ) and I pointed it out to you and I believe your reply was 70 hood bars are to rare a piece to be driving around on your car unless your showing it.

PS that was a nice vert you had. do you miss it??

Really? Now I'm confused. That doesn't look like a 70 GS nose trim to me? :Do No: At least not any 70 I've seen and certainly not mine. Maybe it's just the picture?? Is this a correct piece on my car then?

    Rick,

Here is a pic i pulled from another thread . You can see the major differences on the under side at the end.

70 GS on left...............Skylark on right.

The GS moulding comes up to meet the hood better than the skylark. You have to really push the skylark moulding up on a GS hood to barely cover the mounting holes. Even after doing that it still is about an 1/8" down.

    That helps Dustin, thanks
I think mine is a Skylark piece, I'm going to go look right now.

    Thanks! :TU:

Hiya Rick. .Ya know, I am thankful someone else stepped up here. When I saw the pix of Jim's cars. . I TOO thought it the red car had a weird trim. Maybe it is just the pix, but I sure thought the same thing you guys do. Just doesn't look right. :Do No: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

I've been confused by this subject for a while now. It started when I got two old Skylark hoods I was going to use for a stage 2 hood project. The noses are very different so I used the one that has a nose most like my GS so I could just transfer the nose trim, but it has a spring attached to the underside. :Do No: I need a drink!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hijack your thread Dustin.
