Original gas tank pulled from a very clean 1970 GS 455. Tank is rust free, but has a few minor dings and a light coat of paint or thin black undercoat, comes right off with lacquer thinner. Tank has 2 vents and has the original sending unit in it. The lines on the sender appear to be bent, but may still be OK. $50.00 + shipping. Paypal welcome!
I see that Spectra and Quanta list 1970 gas tanks. Are they not correct ? Is the filler neck not at the correct angle or something. If so, it seems like this would be relatively easy to correct. Am I missing something here??
At one time the 70 tank was only sold without the neck. The 71 neck as I recall is longer and no one remade the 70 neck. Thus you have to transplant an old one on to a new tank. There was some discussion about Quanta correcting this. I am unsure if this was done.
