I was wondering what models shared the same driveshaft with a 1970 Skylark GS 455 with th400? is it the same as a skylark with a 350 th350? if so, are the 2 door and 4 door the same? thanks, Billy
2 door and 4 door are totally different frame from the middle section of the frame. 4" longer 400TH yoke is different than the 350TH yoke outer and inner diameter and spline count. You can get the drive shaft from other GM A-body cars like GTO, Lemans T-37, Cutlass 442, w-30, SX etc. will work. ANY drive shaft will work that is GM and has the correct length you need as all u-joints can be swapped to work with 400 yokes and GM yokes. Jim JD
you don't have a drive shaft to work with? I sent one out this week, its being re-tubed because of a dent, new u-joint and balance, a little less than $200 I figure by the time I found another one, shipped it, and had it balanced I could just have mine done right and back faster
According to TSB 71-I-5A of Sept 25, 1971, The length for the 1970 GS 455 with TH400 was 55.10 inches center to center on universal joints, with brown and blue stripes to ID it. (All 71&72 shafts are 0.86" shorter due to 8 1/2 rears)
My 69 GS400 came with (and still has) the two piece shaft with the rubber. Should I assume that after I install a posi it's gonna twist to shreds? Can't the two pieces be welded together?
