1970 electra disc brake calipers

    i am having difficulty sourcing replacement calipers for my 1970 electra. seems raybestos is out of stock and so it seems with cardone. does anyone have a lead on where to get new or rebuilt calipers? mine are frozen solid

    Just rebuild yours. Rebuilds/reseal kits are readily available along with new pistons.

    X2 & Scour junk yards in BC, if you find a 67/68/69 big disc brake car they are like finding gold on oak island. Gord

    '67-'68 & '69 are ALL 4 piston fixed caliper set-ups.
    Whereas 1970 stands alone as one year only with one LARGE piston sliding caliper of the type we're used to seeing on the '71 & up vehicles.

    Shouldn't it be then dimension-ally the same as the caliper that was used on literally millions of GM cars - 69 to 81??

    Better off sending yours out to get sleeved and rebuilt. Its not cheap, but its "once and done"

    1970 are single piston sliding calipers as opposed to the 4 piston '67-'68-'69 calipers which MUST be sleeved to stop leaks & sucking air. The seal is on the inside of the caliper in the bore. Whereas the earlier ones the seal is the bore of the caliper.
