I've got the body off my chassis and was wondering if anyone has scaled a '70 Electra 2dr for the front axle and rear axle weight. I'm doing some "chassis work" and it would be helpful to know.

Did you ever find those low-compression 455 heads you were looking for?

It should be farily easy to locate the curb weight for a '70 Electra. Then assuming a 52/48 weight distribution, it should put you in the ballpark.

    According to my 70 Chassis manual, a 70 Electra 2dr has a curb weight of 4427 + 153 (Gas) + 41 (coolant) for a grand total of 4621 lbs. 52% is 2403 lbs, and 48% is 2218.

Thanks, for the info, I did not realize they were that "light". I figured they would weight around 5000-5500 pounds. Yes, I have a 1976 engine on the stand here at my shop.

That's about the weight of an Estate Wagon. I intend to weigh it at the Nats this year, if the scales go that high! :Dou:

'70 225 is lighter, but mid-'70's Electras are over 5000 due to, among other things, the grossly enlarged bumper systems.
