Can one of you guys explain the custom frame work to me? Thanks.

What I believe he means is that the portion of frame that goes over the rear axle has been cut. Usually it is made thinner and re inforced or moved inboard to accomodate the 15x10s. From the looks of the stock rear wheelhouses, I'd say it was cut and made thinner. Just an educated guess

    Frame

    Andrew,

The frame was boxed and sectioned inwards in the wheel house area. Each wheel house was split and 2 to 2.5 inches of metal was added to the centers. When you look at the car from beneath or from the trunk, you almost cannot tell, even if you know it is there. The factory gas tank was then sectioned on each side to match the frame, then it was baffled and bunged for the barry grant to draw and return. There is more, but it is time for bed. I would be happy to tell you anything you might want to know about the car. Tomorrow. :TU: Bill

[EDIT] I re read the auction and it says the wheelhouses were widend 2 1/2 inches. I would say the rear section of the frame was narrowed. The gas tank was custom made to fit the narrowed area. Looks like excellent work, you almost cant tell from the pictures!

    Kyle,

How good does your mom cook? Please post some pictures. I mean of the car of course.

I too would like to see someone from the Buick community get the car, it is obvious that I am willing to loose a lot of money on this one. I was hoping to get a really nice GN or GNX in trade, they are driveable by the whole family, then when dad gets in he turns up the boost and away we go. If it sells, I will be looking for one, if it does'nt, I will keep working on it and try to find a way to get to Salem, but I doubt it. I am selling it to make more fun for the family, to get to Salem would mean postponing or cutting short the family vacation. My wife and kids deserve the break a lot more than I deserve to go to Salem. Thanks for the nice words and encouragement! :beer

Kyle, I have to know, what is the Dollhouse? :TU:

    Kyle,

Your car looks sweet! I will refrain from any inuendo regarding a certain loved ones chosen profession (curious as I may be). :bglasses: :Brow: I want you to have my car, I just don't know how that is likely going to happen. God knows, you sound as though you certainly deserve it! Thanks for the kudos!!! Bill :TU:

Reserve not met by $1 ?

    Bill,
I was watching the auction, and noticed you lowered the reserve to $1 more than the highest bid, and the auction ended and the reserve wasn't met. It appears as though the highest bidder (fitzer65) made several bids, and even retracted one, and the car is not going to sell now because of only $1 difference? I tried to figure it out by looking at the bid history and the dates, and now I'm very curious. Can you explain to us what is going on? :Do No:

    Jim,

Fitzer revealed my reserve to himself by overbidding, so I lowered the reserve so everyone would know what they could buy the car for. No one could have an advantage by doing it this way. I am trying to put together a deal with him involving a trade, so far I don't see it happening, we are too far apart. I also have been working with another board member to try to put something together, we have not spoken in a while so I assume that one might be dead. Also, you might assume that some bids were by people trying to help draw attention to the car. I hope you appreciate this response, as I don't really feel it is required of me to answer it. Now let me ask you, why do you ask? Did you want to buy the car? The net result of this auction was that this car was offered to the whole world for $31,101. No one had any advantage and anyone could have bought it. I now have over $34,600.00 invested into it, my desire to sell the car is equal to about $3,500. I don't think I could have laid it out any more plainly than I have in this thread and a few others as well. I choose to do it this way, I suppose to my own detriment. Now it is time to get to work on the car, I was holding off on the interior because of the auction. I hope the work does not create a serious problem for my back, it is a serious roll of the dice. Just like the auction. :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

    Bill,

Thanks for the explanation. I was watching with interest, and must admit that I lost interest when the auction sat for a couple of days with only $1 differrence in the reserve and the highest bid. The fact that fitzer65 bid three times on 7/19/05, and then again on 7/21/05 (same day you lowered the reserve), and outbid patrickjoiner (who's bid was the highest for a week), was too much for me.

Good luck with the trades. I hope that car goes to someone who wants it as bad as I did. It sure is nice!! :TU:
