Does he still own it? The description sounds like a car salesman. I like the car though.

Yea . That's my car, and it's definitely a scam. Thanks to OHC and buick 316 for pointing it out. I should call and see if I can talk him down some, lol.

Ad is still up. I hadn't read this far down and just emailed him a couple questions. Now that I know the real deal, I'll be curious the reply and might have some fun f-ing w/him.

I may just email him also with some questions , specific questions, just to mess with him some, and if he responds, send a few pix of my car . Who knew there were 2 Sherwood green gs 350 clones with a crack in the dash pad in the same spot ! Lol

The Ad is still up on oodle.com (https://cars.oodle.com/detail/1970-buick-skylark-gran-sport/5032770267-bronx-newyork-ny/) and I just today finally heard back from our very hard working friend Paul the seller/scammer. Had to have him send me a link as I had no idea what car he was talking about, but once I clicked on the link he sent, of course I remembered exactly what I was dealing with. Car is now "in Seattle" despite the ad saying Bronx, NY. I'm happy to either f*** with him myself and if you want, shoot me some info so I can ask some questions and make him squirm or I can tell him that I bought something in the meantime but my friend is interested and give you his email address if you want the pleasure.

    "Hi,
I apologize for taking so long to respond but I work 16hr shifts and I didn't saw it until now.
You inquired about my car and I hope you are still interested. This beauty is in great condition and extremely clean. It has been recently serviced and it's being sold as described, no mechanical or electrical issues, never abused, non smoker, runs and drives perfect. You can buy it for the price of $11,600. I work overseas for Perenco on an oil rig and my contract ends next year in January. Then I have another 2 years agreement starting from February 2020 so the car is no more useful to me.
The location of the car is Seattle WA, ready to go. I have arranged for the sale of the vehicle before leaving the states so if you want to find out more details about how we can close this deal, do not hesitate to contact me and I will respond at my earliest convenience.

    Thank you,
    Paul"

I still haven't gotten a response from him. I say mess with him and if he ever responds to me i'll do the same. I really don't have any specifics to ask, the car is exactly as described, other than it now has 41,ooo miles. LOL. It's a great daily driver. He got his pictures and info directly from Coyote classics, which is where I bought the car from.

Will do. This will be fun. Funny thing is it looks just like my old '70 GS 350 - Sherwood Green/Green split bench 4-sp.

Our hard working friend Paul has probably already spent the money - "I really like the car and it'd be perfect for a build I want to do" although I threw him a curveball to get him squirming. He even gave me his "work" email address exc. it's @penco.us instead of @penco.com and the name of an apparently legit transport co. (Crossmed-uk) that has a facility in Seattle where the car "is located" and a setup where they hold the money in escrow until the buyer is satisfied and he's included shipping in the price (that all looks legit). He's pretty good & reasonably sophisticated so far - Must've pulled this off before. I assume he'll send wire instructions that appear to come from crossmed-uk. I doubt he anticipated my "crazy idea" that I might want to just fly out to Seattle and drive it home so we'll see how he handles that. I don't really have time for all this, but it's just too much fun, lol.

    "Paul,

Great, thanks. I'm interested. Reminds me a lot of a GS I used to own. That was a real GS & 4-sp. car but I love that color combo and was hoping to find another. I'm looking for one to build so a Skylark & automatic is great. Ad says car is in Bronx, NY but you say it's in Seattle?

Is the 32k miles orig.? Was there rust repaired before it was painted (or did you buy it like this & not sure?)

Anyway, can you send me some more detailed pics (ad only has one)?

    Thanks!"

    "Hi Dan,
Because of the fact that I am quite busy with my job and unable to travel back to the States, I have decided to hire a company to ship the vehicle and take care of the sale for me. The shipping & payment part of the transaction will be handled by Crossmed Shipping Ltd. The vehicle is now located in their transit warehouse from Seattle, WA because I had a buyer from there but he canceled the deal due to a decease in the family. They have in their custody both the vehicle and the title signed for release, which had been verified by their inspectors and they already gave the go ahead to begin the transaction. The vehicle has only 32k miles from new and comes with a large collection of history files, manuals and receipts.
Regarding the payment, there is a 3 days inspection period available for you once you will receive the vehicle in which you have the possibility to do an inspection to any authorized service of your choice before the company will release any money to me. If you will decide not to keep it for any reason the vehicle will be sent back to me (free of charge for you) and you will get a full refund no questions asked. So basically I only receive the money if you are happy about what you are buying.

Please read their how it works webpage on http://crossmed-uk.com/how_it_works.php and decide if you agree or not.

To be able to start this transaction you need to register on the shipping company's website. Once you are done, I will approve the deal from my account and Crossmed will contact you in order to go ahead with the purchase.

P.S. You should know that the vehicle will be shipped anywhere within the States at my expense !

Looking forward to successfully completing this transaction.

    Paul

For a faster response you can use my work email brighousepaul@perenco.us"

    And my reply:

    "Paul,

Great, thanks for the pics. Looks like a nice car. Few minor issues I see, but nothing too difficult to take care of and I checked out the crossmed-uk website and seems like they have a good system of protecting the buyer/seller. So just to be sure, the funds would get sent to them and they hold them in escrow basically until I get to see and inspect the car, correct? And with the shipping included, that makes it a much more palatable deal since I'm far from Seattle - I'm much closer to the Bronx so when you said the car was in Seattle that gave me some pause.

Although I did have a kind of crazy idea (I did this once before with a car and it was a lot of fun!). I was thinking about possibly flying out to Seattle and driving it back since it's in such good condition. I have some family and a couple friends there that I could visit and it won't snow for a while yet and right now I happen to have the time. I live on the east coast, so they're going to charge you a lot to ship it (probably $1250 at least) and that would pay for my plane ticket and travel expenses coming back. I could inspect it right there and wire them the money on the spot and we'd be done with the deal. Less risky for you really since there'd be no chance I'd reject the car once it got here and if for some reason I don't like it then I'm the one taking the risk as I'd have to fly home on @ my cost although I can't imagine based on the pics & description & so far everything you've said has checked out.

See how much they'd charge for shipping and I'll check on flight prices - My zip code is 21031.

Thanks, I hope one way or another this works out as I do really like the car and it'd be perfect for the build I want to do as I wanted something that I didn't have to mess with the bodywork/paint/interior (other than some minor issues like the crack in the dash and the black steering wheel - Green wheels are super hard to find as I had to get one for my last car).

    Dan"

Maybe Chris should e-mail the guy and let him know he's Dano's friend in Seattle and try to set up a time to see the car :D (if my only e-mail account wasn't work related I'd do it myself. I mean, it really doesn't matter where the guy from "Seattle" really is)
