I have a 1970 455 Stage 1 engine, rebuilt last winter. Im currently pulling it out of the car to replace with a LSX turbo conversion. Its mated with a built TH350 with a 2000 stall converter i believe. Was suppose to be built to handle 750hp. Shifts are firm and tight. Only 4000 miles on both engine and tranny. Never taken to the track or abused. Just street driven. All oils were changed at 500 miles then again at 2000 miles and once more this spring just to get refreshed for the summer. Here are the specs on the engine: Bored .030 over (462'') Cast pistons 10:5:1 comp 10 on the crank i believe all new bearings Comp cam, cant remember the specs on it. It is a fairly mild cam though, with a little lope at idle. all new lifters and pushrods mild port and polish on 1970 Stage 1 heads oiling system mods block was dunked All new gaskets throughout new water pump new stage 1 fuel pump Edelbrock valve covers Edelbrock intake port matched Edelbrock 1407 750cfm manual choke carb TA Performance long tube headers Hei ignition with MSD module all new nuts and bolts Chrome 140amp alt The engine runs real strong, excellent oil pressure, runs cool and idles perfectly. I believe that is everything listed. I may have forgot a few things so dont hesitate to ask any questions. I can seperate the engine and transmission also. The Transmission cost me around 1300.00 plus converter. If I could get 1k for the TH350 I would be happy. Im not sure exactly what these engines go for, but I have well over 6k invested. Engine and Transmission are located in Omaha, NE Asking $4800.00 For Engine and $1000.00 for the Transmission. Also willing to ship if need be.
It's a longshot I'd be interested but what are the engine codes and serial number on the engine? Reason I ask is you say it's a stage 1 engine but don't mention any of that. If it's the missing block out of my stage 1 car I'll pay you a gazillion dollars. Mike
TH350 is interesting, but it sounds like it's built for the strip, if you're talking it's built for 750hp. I'm looking for a built TH350 to run behind a mild street-only 455.
Its actually a fairly streetable transmission. I actually only drive the car in town and barely take it above 65 mph. More or less just cruise in the car. The guy said it would handle 750hp, but it drives like its build for about 550hp range.
