First i actually dont know how they are supposed work on the car. When i bought it, it had a digital dash (not my taste). Should all the lights (stop engine, hot, brake, gen, oil) light up when the key is turned to acc? I currently only got "stop engine" and "hot" but only when the key is almost turned to "run". Ive tried to troubleshoot both charging and oil pressure lights by applying ground and the lights came on. Ive also applyed 12v to the brown charging light cable in the connector to the ignition switch, light came on again. I suspect the ignition switch to be my problem but ive also messured for any rissistence across the possitive terminal and the terminal for the brown wire going to the charging lights. When key is turned to acc i got 0.03ohm wich sound good to me. Brake light work when e-brake is pressed. Also the "hot" light comes on way before the thermostat opens and when i drove it with the digital dash it always ran with temps between 190-198 i assume it might be a bad switch? I got the service manual for 1968 buick's not sure how much has changed from 68 to 69. Any help or info is greatly appreciated
Okay so i should see no lights at acc. I should see "stop engine" and "hot" lights when im just about to crank over? Oil and gen is only when engine is running? Yea it works i got the computer box and and whatever is needed. It also came with remote door locks and ignition immobilizer. And the doors locks when key is turned to ignition and ulocks when shut down.
I got a faulty ignition switch then. I only get the 2 lights on picture when i hold the key in place right before it cranks. When i say before it cranks i have to hold the key against the spring.
Key on, engine off, the oil and gen lights should be on. Temp light comes on in crank only because the ignition switch supplies a ground signal to the light. Brake light needs the park brake applied to get its ground.
