    1968 buick gs

    fuel: gas
    odometer: 75000
    title status: clean
    transmission: manual

This is going to be a long winded description, but please read the ad thoroughly as I hope to answer as many questions as I can on the front end.. .I do not have time for tire kickers, etc. Please SERIOUS PARTIES ONLY! Thanks!

1968 Buick GS400 in extremely nice "driver quality" condition. This is an original 400 with Muncie 4spd car, and while currently fitted with a 455 and TH400, the correct "numbers matching" engine/trans are included.

Purchased new in South Dakota, and received an amateur restoration in 1991. Car was resprayed in its' original "Burnished Saddle" at that time. Had little to no rust whatsoever when restored, and as of today, I'd call it 98.5% Rust free. It is not a perfect "show car". There are dings, scratches, and faded clear coat at this time, but the photos are a true representation of the condition of this car. It still looks VERY presentable. Once again, this is why I call it "driver quality". Leave it as-is, or is an amazing candidate to restore to perfection as you will NOT find a more solid GS to start with.

Odometer shows just under 75000 and believed to be original. Everything electrical (including original AM/FM radio) works outside of the fuel gauge (needs sending unit) and dome light.

"Buckskin" Interior is very nice as well with no cracks in dash, nice headliner, nice seat covers (drivers seat has small "nick" in piping", but otherwise excellent), etc. The only thing I'd consider replacing is the carpet as the car, being originally a 4 speed, has some bare floor showing as the automatic console does not completely hide the hole in the carpet for the manual trans.

    As for the drivetrain.

The car currently has a mildly built 455, with built 400 auto transmission installed. Factory 3.64 Posi-trac rear end. It has been bored .040 over, higher comp flat top pistons, cam, etc. Do not have dyno specs, etc, but butt dyno tells me it is "ALL" of 400+ RWHP, with probably close to 500 ft/lbs of Buick Big Block Torque.

With the original 14" Buick Mags, and skinny tires (seen in last 2 photos), it would spin through first, second, and chirp third gear.

Engine runs EXCELLENT, and has less than 3000 total miles on it since it was installed in 1991. In my ownership, I've put about 1000 miles on it, and the last week almost 500 trying to wring as much "fun" out of it before the snow flies and it goes into storage.... or it sells.

As mentioned above, the car comes with its' original numbers matching 400 and Muncie M20 4spd.... and ALL necessary parts to put it back to stock/original including all linkages, rods, pedals, Hurst shifter, RARE,RARE,RARE 4 speed console, etc. Clutch/bellhousing/etc not show in photos, but ALL ARE INCLUDED. Will need flywheel resurfaced (or new) and new clutch disc/pressure plate and you are ready to rock.
As a bonus, from what I was told is that BOTH the original 400 engine and trans were rebuilt (with no miles) and owner decided to go 455 for another 100HP+ and that he was tired of shifting (what!!!????) so installed a TH400.
Car starts, runs and drives like a restored Buick should. Smooth, tight and quiet.

The wheels currently on the car I had custom made and powdercoated by Wheelsmith out in California. 17"x9" in rear with 17"x8" in front. New Nitto 555 (275 rear 255 front) tires all the way around. Period correct Factory 1968 Dog dish hubcaps finish them off. I have over $2500.00 in wheels/tires/caps alone.

At the end of the day, this is a SUPER TIGHT, QUICK, and when compared to other brands of Muscle Cars out there (GTO, Chevelle, 442, Nova) CHEAP! vintage Muscle Car to enjoy without breaking the bank or worrying if it gets dusty or a bug hits the windshield.
I could go on and on, but this should give you an idea of what is here. Quite a few new parts in the last 1000 miles as well, including and fresh trans, and oil service.

Asking 18.5K CASH for everything (including original engine/trans/etc).....You'd be VERY hard pressed to find a better Musclecar for the money. Will consider trades. Specifically a Shortbed fleetside 1964-1966 Chevrolet C10 or 1967 Camaro.

Free and clear Minnesota Title in my name, ready to be transferred to new owner.

If you have any questions, send your NAME AND PHONE NUMBER and I will call you back right away. I will not reply anyone that does not include NAME AND NUMBER due to spamming.

I will not conduct business via email or text... Phone, or better yet. IN PERSON as humans used to do...

    Thanks for looking.

Interesting lead, it looks like a heck of a deal when you consider the extras being included. Seems like it's getting harder every year to find cars like this one that fall in the middle, between "restored so well, and so expensive, that you're afraid to drive it" and "project car that's gonna need at least $10K in repairs and parts to be a decent driver."

I've never heard of doing steel wheels before in 17 inch, but man that sure looks good and adds a real bad-ass stance to the 68-69 bodylines, I dig it !!! Larry.
