Hi guys, I am trying to get some sort of documents or proof that my car actually had the dealer installed Stage 1 package. I am going to try to contact the previous owner and see if they even remember the car. The original dealer is long gone and I'm not sure where else to look. Is there any documentation on the cars that recieved this package floating around the net or buick enthusiast's file cabinent? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Agreed. You could try DMV searches to get prior owner information from known states for 'research purposes'. Every state is different. From me researching my car... NJ had the records back to 1981. OH had nothing - I paid $25.00 for a screen print of a 'Vehicle not found' message.
I saw this on another site: "1968 Buick GS Stage 1 By mid model year, Buick raised the bar with the newly released Stage 1 option. This option was offered through 1973, but was a very rare option for the 1968 model year since it was offered mid year, and was a very expensive dealer installed option for 1968. The Stage 1 option added a hatter cam, 11.0:1 compression, stronger valve springs, and a better transmission. Official Buick numbers give the Stage 1 option 5 extra horsepower, but considering the Stage 1 dropped the mile times down by a second or more, 5 extra horsepower probably isnt accurate. Many experts believe about 80 extra horsepower was achieved with the Stage 1." I keep looking, but there just isn't a lot of info out there on this for sure.
I traced my car's history back to the kid that bought it in 71. Sometimes you find out more that you wanted to know.
Yeah I wish GM did a better job with marking the cars and allowing people to identify the stage 1s now a days
