1968 GS 400 engine for convertible same as for hardtop?

    Hi All,

This is my first post, so please forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid or obvious question, or if it has already been answered in another post (I searched but couldn't find an answer).

Does anyone know if the engines for a 1968 Buick Skylark GS 400 convertible and hardtop are the same (i.e., interchangeable)?

In other words, is the engine for a 1968 GS 400 convertible different in some way from the engine for a hardtop?

I'd certainly appreciate your reply, as I need to pick up an engine for my 1968 Skylark GS 400, and the answer to this question will make a BIG difference in whether I will find one.

    Thanks in advance!

Please put your name in your signature, we are all here on a friendly first name base :TU:
And where are you located ?

Also, don't forget to introduce yourself (and your Buick) in the Wet behind the ears?? section of the board :Smarty:

The engine in a model year 1968 GS 400 convertible is the same as the engine in a model year 1968 GS 400 hardtop coupe.
According to my information, they both should have the PR engine code.
