Not mine https://saginaw.craigslist.org/cto/d/auburn-1967-buick-wildcat-convertible/7323110567.html Regards, Jim
That's just a little worse than what mine looked like when I rescued it from the wrecker back in 1990. It has potential...It's got the Custom interior and A/C, both nice to have. As long as the heads aren't cracked on the 430 there's hope of bringing that one back. But...at today's prices, it would end up being about $30K to restore it, and the car tops out at $25K. They are rare, only 2100 (or thereabouts) of them built.
When I did mine, I couldn’t find patch panels anywhere, so I hand formed and welded it all. I spoke with the owner; he really wants to restore it but life got in the way. It’s sad. If it doesn’t sell, it’ll probably become a parts car.
You did a helluva nice job Joe! Well, that’s a shame on this guys though. I had two 67 cats (one BUILTconvertible and one loaded 2dr Ht with buckets,PW&vac operated PDL etc) always loved the body style and ride). Here is my sleeper drop top with John Chamberlain built 430 with Stage 1 heads,Kenne-Bell window rattler cam,B4B, 3000 stall, posi and classified Chamberlain mods heh heh. Even with the two piece drive shaft and 5 people in it,it was insane in 1st gear and would then bark the hell out of 2nd & 3rd with everyone in it. Miss it but a 70 Stage 1 non a/c 4-speed became available for 4K via my friend at the time at Year Ones for sale cork board so I had a fire sale. Got $1500 for both the built convertible & the bucket seat car, then sold my baseball cards for half their value.Took a huge loss but would probably do it all the same again. Were good times though and that Stage 1 was WICKED!
Same here with you guys above. That one's actually in better shape than mine when I started, and had to do ALL sheet metal fab myself. Thank goodness for a borrowed shrinker/stretcher for rear wheel lip rebuilding. I had a ton of stuff to grind out before I could get that far, cheesy patch panel on top of patch panel, even uncovered a license plate riveted in to cover a hole. Ahhh, the labors of love. The thirty year old bodywork and paint are still holding up! Devon
That's an absolutely gorgeous car Devon, that colour suits the lines. Mine went to Indianapolis, I hope the new owner is enjoying it. The body work was all done on mine, it was just in need of a mechanical freshening up. It was still stupidly fast and a lot of fun to drive, but I could see "the clouds start to gather" as it were. In some respects I regret getting rid of it, it was a part of my life for 30 years, but I knew what it was going to need mechanically and I also knew that physically I couldn't do it anymore and would have to pay for it. So then it became time to pass it on and let someone else finish it and preserve it. They were great cars. Too bad they don't make them like this anymore. With some modern refinements they'd be absolutely stellar. You have to wonder what would have happened if Buick was able to tweak that big-block like what they were able to do with the V-6, what kind of a powerhouse they could have built.
Some amazing pics! I have not been brave enough to tackle the quarters or the windshield channel yet on my Electra (Not to hijack a Wildcat post). Devon, love how you shaved the door handles and didn't used the chrome behind the front wheel openings.
