A question for someone in the know! Does the chrome front wheel well trim on a 1967 Buick GS go all the way around the well similar to the rear or does it consist of two pieces with the smaller piece on the door side of the well?

since yor probably looking at the pair i have on ebay..as herbertblues? is that you?..

there are 3 styles on 67s front all 3 use 2 piece..the GS are the long piece and either a cast post metal 6 inch section or a 6 inch stainless piece that makes it look like the molding goes all the way around it snaps together and is screwed to the fender...the skylark uses a hockey stick looking thing for the side chrome all the way down the car....so that being said the long piece is the same on all of them...even wagons.....and is not rare...the little sections are the hard part...

I believe the some of the 67s had a 3 piece trim. Think of the 66 for a minute, they have a piece of stainless which cover the front lower section of the fender, and the piece of stainless which goes over the arch in the fender joins it in the front, and joins another piece in the rear of the arch and the trim continues to the back of the car.
I have seen a 67 Special with the same looking large stainless (that the 66 has) at the front of the fender. This car I saw had a piece over the arch, and a piece, like the GS has, that finished out the molding to the bottom of the fender, (3 pieces total) as Specials do not join the hockey stick piece you refer to and go back the side of the car. So I "assume" if this Special had this 3 piece molding the GS cars would have had the same thing. And Skylark would have had a 3 piece also, including your hockey stick piece.
I am sure someone will join in and help us through this. But I believe I am right, because "The Buick Farm" still has both styles of the front molding which go over the arch for sale, now, NOS, on their web site. At least one style is $75, each. NOS.

66 has this, the molding has a different concave versus convex, i dont believe the front staniless will even go under the 67 trim...ive sold 50 sets of each.,..very different..and NEVER have I seen a 67 with the front stainless flashing...BUT ive never seen every car on the planet either...if ya saw it maybe somone added it, i looked in the assy manual and 67s dont show that trim.......

Well I saw this car on ebay, a 67 Special, white with blue painted top. Supposedly a one owner, all original, paint and all, owner passed on, drug out and for sale and it had exactly what you say you never saw. Granted I never saw it in person. I emailed the seller and asked about the moldings, he probably had no idea, but he said "this car was never altered, was the old guys baby, if it is on there it is original."
And the very mention of the short one being first design in the Buick Farm ad bears out my thinking. It was a carry over from the 66s an the early 67s.
And I have seen this discussed on here before, and it was stated by someone else that the 67s had the 3 piece molding. Maybe some who you will believe will speak up. But you are right no matter what:grin:

First question, hubertblues is me on Ebay and I was looking at your trim.
Next, on my 67 lark I am putting GS wheel well trim on the back but it came from a wagon and is a little long so I will need somebody locally (Denver) to cut and tuck the trim. Next, I do have the front trim that came off but I am leaving off all of the side moldings because of two reason, they are in poor condition and with GS rear wheel trim the side moldings look a little strange. So, I guess all I need is the piece that would continue the front loop thus resembling a GS. I’m open to suggestions and parts… please and thank you!

i beleive ya...i was messing with ya,

i was stating my experience...anyway..i dont doubt you ive just never seen it like that myself...dont think im being a dick to you or doubt you cuz that isnt so...posts are cold and insensitive, and loose alot in translation...and just so ya know...im still right...even if ya prove me wrong im right...so just concede now....[IMG]

id buy apair of fronts, and cut the length ya needed off the back end and put them on, from the factory, the stainless 2nd design has a little flat "tail" that fits tight is slid inside, and then they slip together kinda bayonet style...
if you look at the pics i posted, if you used the back end part f the molding i dont think it would look that bad..and it would be cheap if you can do a little fabrication. POST IN THE WANTED SECTION AND SEE IF SOMONE HAS THAT LITTLE SECTIONS,,,the long pieces like in the pic above are not hard to get..the little pieces are the hard part...i had a pair of diecast ones when i moved from Kentucky, but i havent seen them, i parted a 67 GS 340..i will look around in a day or two..we are having a blizzard right now, so im sticking to the house for a day or two, but i will look, if i have them, you can have them if you pay postage, they where ok, but not great...

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

I've seen many '67 GS cars with the 3 piece trim in the front (meaning it has the large piece at the lower front, between the molding and the fron bumper, similar to a '66). They have always been early production cars. I never paid attention the the assembly plant however to see if that had anything to do with it. Several of the cars I've seen were original, untouched survivors.

Here are a couple that I could find photos of very quickly:

The gold car is an all original, including original paint, car.

The blue car is a GS Special (yes there is such a thing) and it is owned by a board member. It is an early car, built 09C (3rd week of Sept 1966) at Baltimore.

I'll keep looking for more photos if you need further proof.

So, Gary, on the yellow car I can clearly see the front wide chrome extention but it looks like the well trim is one piece all the way down on the inner door side. is that true or is there an extention on the lower part also?

Anything you might have to finish off the front well and what I could use, let me know what would work and I will buy it. Thanks

67 grand sport Buicks and Packers RULE!!

My 4th week of Dec. 1966 GS 400 has the 3 piece trim as well. I bought the car with original paint. Shouldnt it be a 4 piece wheel well trim set on the early GS and Specials?:Do No:

Hi, I've got the front piece also on my 09D (of 66') 67 Skylark sold in France in may 67', built in Flint.
    Here it is....

Does anybody knows if some rear wheel molding coming from a 66' Skylark would fit on my 67' instead of the skirts ??

    A+ JC

Yah, they will fit but they are notch differently because of the side molding location but, better than with out.
