I just got back from Ashtabula Ohio Sunday with my fiberglass for my 67. I think WS Racing did a really good job. I have a picture of all the parts, doors, fenders, hood, deck grille and bumpers. They now have all the molds so anyone can just order them. Mike
Mike, great that you got your stuff back. I have always been happy with WS Racing. I guess I should put all that stuff on mine now that you have hauled my fenders and stuff up there to get the molds made. I'll get in touch with you to get my stuff back before long. Later, JIm Netherland
Boy that would have been awesome to have had a 1 piece frontend made too.. The parts look good. I have all VFN glass for my 70 car . I will honestly say,the doors were absolutely sweet to line up. I think the gaps were excellent as well as the decklid and fenders too.Nice job!
Are we going to be seeing a new contender for the "Fastest Iron Headed Stage 1" car on the planet ? I can't wait......
Hey Mike, Those parts look great! I was wondering if the trunk lid is bolt-on or pin-on. I might be interested in if it's a bolt-on part. Also, i was wondering what became of the original parts that were used to make the molds? I really need a straight, solid, front bumper core and a nice rust free and straight trunk lid. If those parts that were used in the making of the molds are nice and availible, I'd be interested...............Thanks, Nick
Hey Mike,What do you think your car will weigh with all those fiber glass parts ?? Hi Jim, Is there a weight requirement for the class you run ??
Chi-Town67, Mike got the bumper, grille, fenders, and trunk from me. Hopely they are coming home some day. It was not a bad driver bumper, but I need to keep all this stuff if I ever decide to run NHRA Super Stock. JIm N.
Mike, I wish I would have known that you were in town. I would have like to take you out to dinner!!! Later
Bignasty we are going to glass all the parts together to make a one piece front end WS didn't want to do a one piece. Steve I hope so. Chi-Town and GotTattos www.wsracingfiberglass.com And like Jim N. said I had to borrow some of his stuff to make the molds. Killr The goal is under 2,000, the sister car to it is a 68 Chevelle that has a Dana 60 all steel rear end, and only the hood and bumpers are glass on it. He also didn't cut the rest up very bad because he was saving the paint and it weighs 2,090. Mine has a Ford 9" with aluminum housing, aluminum spool, a lightened ring gear and gun drilled axels. John, thanks for the offer but we (wife and I) made a Saturday round trip of 1000 miles so I was cookin' in the old dually.
Awsome!!!! I am definitely going to get in touch with WS. I really want to see if they are willing to make the hood and deck lid bolt on. They will sell many units if they do. Mike good luck with the build.:3gears:
Ok Jim, Thanks for the reply. BTW....Congrats on your Championship!! You probably don't remember, but I was the guy that was looking at your car in the staging lanes at Rt.66, Joliet.I said I had a 67 GS also. I can't tell you how happy I was to see a Buick running at that event, especially a '67! Great job!!
Nick, yes I remember talking to you. I got the lift off hood and trunk but have glassed in aluminum blocks to bolt them on the car. I'm so careless that I would walk on a lift off piece. I want them to hinge but they are still very light and I use Duzs fasteners to hold them down. It was not a big deal to make them hinge. Thanks for the congrats. JIM N.
I just wanted to respond that I did this as well. VFN pin-on hood. Very easy to do. One hint: I made templates out of plywood in the shape of the hood to support it upside down while the fiberglass set. I also glassed in aluminum tube reinforcement around the perimeter of the piece to reduce any chance of it distorting at speed. Only added about five pounds to the hood with all that. Jim
