Just saw this on Craigslist. Haven't given the owner a call yet but for the price the car look interesting - except for that weird black arrow design on the paint! http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/597950106.html
Chris i looked at it this morning its a bondo boat with a olds engine and the frame has had plates welded on it the owner is negotiable he would like 4000.00 it looks real good from 20' but not worth restoring And i almost forgot some yo yo put the fender louvers on backwards
>>For the price listed I figured something was wrong with the body - and I believe the 66-67 Skylark/GSs are very hard to find body panels for. That is pretty funny that the fender louvers are on backwards! ou:
Looks like the guy just put the car on ebay and is not really being honest about its condition in the description - hope no one gets burnt on this one (plus I hate when someone tries to sell a Buick claiming "it looks like a Chevelle"). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...011QQitemZ320227682643QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Wonder why he wants 2500 more then he was asking on craigslist? those picture make it look ok until you get it home and realize theres a 1/2 of bondo on the qtr panels and its starting to crack nice louvers to bad there on backwards Oh no what are those steal plates welded on the frame and that was just a quick look
I asked him a couple of questions, Has the frame had any repairs and if the 350 motor was out of a Buick? I'll wait for his response directly to me or if he may post it on the ad. I purchased a 1972 Riviera, triple black, out of California several years ago. He stated the windsheild wipers didn't work and everything else was very good, rust free. Knowing it was in California I assumed it to be true. The car was Junk. The firewall was rotted away along with the very bottoms of the front fenders and other issues. I gave the car away, gave it away. I have purchaed cars off of the internet since but I use my own eyes or eyes of another Buick man. One of our past great generals was asked how he had so much knowledge, he responded due to experience, asked how he got experience, he stated throught mistakes.
I see that someone already bid $4,500 on the car - ebay doesn't allow you to contact a bidder though so there is no way to warn them.
Chris I see the car is now in port jefferson it was in freeport it looks like someone is trying to do a quick flip he probley payed 3500-4000 and is looking to make 2 or 3 grand in a week
Owner emailed a response to my question regarding the frame and motor, " Frame is really nice- I did'nt see any work to it. I was told it was a 350. def not a chevy , I'm not familiar with Buicks, but it has a wide intake." I'll lead him a little more and ask how long he has owned the car and what part of NY he is from.
Honestly the frame work looks nice but you cant miss the welds. Looks like an olds rocket motor. For $3500- $4000 it would'nt be a bad deal as long as you realize its not a car to be restored and it is what it is. If you can enjoy it as is great otherwize its a money pit.
He got back to me quick. As far as how long he has owned it, his reply "not long". I wonder if he will be as quick to respond to the new owner. Nothing wrong with a quick turn around as long as the honesty factor is there. He may not know the frame has been repaired. He said he just took it on a hundred mile trip with no problems.
If he talking about the trip from freeport to port jefferson its about 50 miles. It may be mechanicly sound i only herd it run thats it. if your interested here is the add that was on craigslist http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/597950106.html That owner asked me what i thought it was worth i said 3500-4000
