1967 GS400 oil pan repair

    Sorry I didn't really know where to put this so it's going in chassis restoration.

    I goofed up.

    So I bought some new 15" Torq Thrusts for my GS400 the other day, and I was trying to put them on. So I was jacking my car up by the K-member, when all of a sudden the jack slips off and punches the oil pan and puts a big old dent and a tiny crack in it. Luckily, it was on the front So I didn't lose all my oil, but I went to start it the next morning, and it made about a half a turn and then stopped. So it's obviously interfering with the crankshaft. Luckily, I have a decently sized shop to work on it, and a trailer where I can get it to that shop.

    Somehow, we don't have an engine hoist anywhere. So we had to get creative to get the motor out of the way. I recommend taking the hood off though. It was rubbing, which on my car I'm fine with. But if you have nice paint, I suggest taking it off.

    Anyway, we had to move the fan shroud out of the way to get the clearance we needed. I think we got the engine up about 4 inches from the motor mounts until i could finally pull it out the back. By the way, there is this little bracket down the passenger side of the pan rail that has the battery cables in it. It was covering 2 of the bolts on that side, but I was able to bend it out of the way. I had to remove the inspection cover for the torque converter and flexplate to get to the back 2 bolts as well.

    So I brought the pan over to the wash bin and cleaned it out, then my grandpa hammered out the dents and brazed up the little hole. The larger area is a wrinkle that formed from hammering it out. He wanted to brazed that up too just to be safe.
