Well, last week I send an email to this group that I had found a place here that could order the calipers that I need for my 67 Skylark.

It seems that they can't, does any of you know if these calipers are still available and where?

A friend of mine who has a 67 skylark, 300 engine with 2 speed manual, tried to get these for years for his own ride, but never found
    any new or rebuild ones.
Rebuild sets didn't help either because this calipers, (also old corvette ones) are know to leak very soon after you put in the rebuild kit.

I found new corvette calipers who look almost the same, but these have two notches on one side of the caliper and i'm not sure if they will clear the rim.
Can't buy and try them, and bring them back if they do not fit, so it is best if I have the right ones.

I'm totally lost here about finding these calipers, can't get the Skylark through its yearly inspection without them.

    So any help is appreciated.

Another friend also told me that if someone has the Hollander Book, then you can look up witch caliper from other cars will fit my car.
Does anyone have such a book?

Doesn't stainless steel brakes re-sleeve them with stainless sleeves and install stainless pistons too?

Last year I needed to do something with my leaking calipers on my 69 Riviera. The Riviera calipers are different than the Corvette ones. The vette calipers are 2 1/16 and the Rivieras are 2 1/8 ( I may have this backwards) Anyway, from what I found out there's only one place that has the equipment to sleeve the Buick calipers. The're called "Apple Hydraulics" . Coincidentially, they happen to be right here on Long Island. They did an awesome job. They stainless steel sleeved them and rebuilt them. They looked and performed like brand new. They charged me 265.00 per caliper. Make sure that wherever does them sleeves them as well (very important). Now, if I could only find a set of new rotors for her.....

It won't be original but you can swap the spindles, rotors, bearings and calipers from any 68-72 A body directly to your car. It would at least get you back on the road. Lot's of companies have these as kits.

When I did my 67, I used the hardware from a 70 Chevy Monte Carlo. Went pretty slick and easy.

Thanks guys for all the help,

I used your links, to contact the companies who rebuild these things.
One is very cheap they asked 135-145 dollars for a rebuild one, thats a strange difference.

Finally with your help and help from the BPG, I can get this calipers rebuild.

The 68-72 swap is also an thing to consider, but is for know to expensive to do.

I will keep it in mind do, if I see a 68-72 midsize car in the scrapyard with discbrakes I will surely ripp all the stuff off the car.
That will make the convertion some what cheaper.

I bought rebuilt units from the guy at www.calipersonline.com for my 69 wildcat. Nice work, nice quality, not disappointed at all. Easy guy to work with, too.

He is very reasonable about core deposits -- just wants something that is reusable, i.e. nothing broken off, bent to hell, ungodly distorted, etc. Took my rusty, leaky, POS calipers, no questions asked. Just wants an intact body that can be disassembled, cleaned up, and bored out.

So the price of $235 each will drop to $135 each as long as what you have is decent. I sent him mine to look at before I committed to buying, he said he'd take them, and I bought.

He says his prices for corvette calipers and the like are ridiculously low cause he can do it automatically on a machine, whereas he doesn't have the volume to justify it on some of our Buicks. So its a little more labor-intensive and hence more costly.

Thats good the hear, that they deliver quality work, they are surely the cheapest ones.

I send mark an email asking if the caliper also get sleeved and if they use stainless steel in the rebuild.

    Hello all,

I can buy a complete discbrake setup (spindle, calipers ed) from a 78 monte carlo and a setup for 78 caprice.

Does anyone know if these will fit a 67 skylark (which has the 67 discbrake four piston caliper setup).

I have found a place that can rebuild the four pistons caliper here in The Netherlands but that will cost me also 600 dollars to do.
I can order them at www.calipersonline.com but with shipping and tax fees I will also be 600 dollars lighter in the wallet area.
Shipping my old calipers back to the states (so I can get my 100 dollar per caliper fee back) cost me 164 euro's postage fee.

So what is the best to do, for know and the future, buy a new 68 and up convert setup, or does anyone have a scrapyard complete setup that will fit this car?

I found some rebuild calipers at a corvette dealership Artons (probably from calipersonline) and we compared them with my 67 Skylark calipers.

The outer dimensions were exactly the same, and also the bracket spacing is the same.

The only difference is that the corvette caliper has slighter smaller pistons and two little notches on one side of the caliper.

Have you ever seen such a corvette caliper that looks so much the same as the 67 chevelle/skylark etc ones?

If so, then I think I can use them one the skylark also.

The mecanic at the corvette dealership, said that the smaller piston size wouldn't be a problem if I would use the corvette calipers in pairs.
