The original radiator on my 66 Riv finally died an ignominious death on a hot Houston afternoon recently. The nailhead made it home nonetheless and now I want to buy an aluminum replacement. However I don't know who sells the size I need. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do NOT buy a cheapo China alum one, it won't fit. The good alum ones will be custom and not cheap. I would record your orig and upgrade to 4 core. I have done it many times on 63-65 Riv's and it's the way to go.

    Dave,

Have you given any consideration to having that original re-cored?

I just put a redone Harrison in my car and with the factory fan clutch and shroud. It runs plenty cool.

I've also had a few member's send me tanks and my radiator guy has hooked them up. Both radiators and heater cores.

    Something to think about....

Good thought. I am going to take my old radiator to the old school radiator repair place and see if it can be saved. The new ones, although very nice, are quite pricey.

Make sure they use Maine Auto Radiator cores or a sufficient equal.

The Maine cores are high efficiency and they only sell to radiator repair shops.

This is a recent re-core I just installed in the car.

Amen to that. Got all excited about getting an aftermarket aluminum job (brand name with held) for my Chevelle, and it turned out to have a slight tweak to the thing. Wound up just using it as is, was able to trim the cushions to make it fit better.

Thanks for the tip. I will ask the radiator shop that i have been using for 40 years what brand they use.
