skylark gran sport !and 67 was the first gs ! they are spelled really different . my 67 is NOT a gran sport ,grand sport . skylark . am i nit picking ?
I think I speak for many when I ask: What? (maybe slow down and type in complete sentences). I'll see if I can decipher: skylark gran sport ! ........So are you saying you don't think a '65 or '66 is a Gran Sport because it has the word Skylark in front of it? and 67 was the first gs ! .......Are you trying to say that '67 is the first one that only has "GS" as a name? they are spelled really different . ........What is spelled differently? Gran Sport and Gran Sport? GS and GS? Are you talking about the person that made this CL ad's typos? (skyler grand sport) my 67 is NOT a gran sport ,grand sport . skylark . .....Now you really lost me. Are you saying a '67-'75 aren't Gran Sports, they're only "GS"s? am i nit picking ? .......I don't know if I, or anyone, can tell if you are or aren't.
Did Buick do this the same way as Pontiac did the GTO? If I recall, in '65 and '66, the GTO was an optional package for the Lemans. There is nothing in the VIN to distinguish it as a GTO. It wasn't until '67 when the GTO became it's own model that can be verified by the VIN. If I am way off base here, let me know.
'64 and '65 was a Lemans/Tempest with an option package, they were "242" GTOs after that. I'd still call a '64 or a '65 a GTO though.
i guess its confusing . the first GS was a 67 . before that gran sport was a option on a skylark . yes , much as the first gto s were lemans gto . the vins .are lemans and skylark . because thats what the were . and i guess i am nitt picking .but it is what it is . and they are what they are !!
In 66 The Skylark GS was a stand alone model and had separate VIN codes. Same codes as used in 67 and up for a few years. It was in 65 too but did not have its own VIN classification.
I'll nit pick some more.... 1965 Skylark GS was an option package. 1966 Skylark GS was it's own model, the first year for this 'model' 1965 and 1966 Skylark GS's had both 'GS' and 'Gran Sport' emblems. 1967 to 1972 had no 'Gran Sport' emblems, just 'GS'. Are they Gran Sports if they don't have a 'Gran Sport' emblem?? Hell, I don't know, I like my 66's.
i stand corrected . i believed 65/66 were skylark gran sport not gs . i was under the impression 67 was the first yr for gs. now i get it !!
IMHO you were correct...'67 was the first time Buick put a "GS" badge on a car without any other name in front of it, but that doesn't make it the first "GS". Any flavor Gran Sport from '65 and up is a GS in my book.
all i know for sure is my 67 gs 340 is not a lark .but when i bought it . it was advertised as one . so was my 67 gs california . so its all good
