In my hunt to find a donor 401 and drive train (for my '56) I have stumbled across a '66 Electra Convertible, well kinda stumbled. I have not seen the car, but I am able to grab it for a silly cheap price. The car is about 6-7 hours from me so my questions are: 1.) Is the 401 the only motor in the 66's? 2.)Do you think I would be able to re-coup my investment by parting out the car after the drivetrain is pulled? I am assuming the body is shot. Excuse my ignorance towards "late model' Buicks. Thanks in advance
Phoned the owner, he thinks it may be a '68, but he knows nothing about cars and doesn't have the ownership. Looks like I may have to go for a drive after all.
If its a 66, it could have a 425 nailhead. If its a 68, it'll be a 430. Big car parts meet with mixed desirability. Gotta find the right person at the right time. I like em':TU:
Have the owner get the info from the data tag or title or worse cas get the vin, post it here and someone can decode it. Big cars are a small market. Larry
Phil, Ask the seller to write down the VIN, and place it on the board. Side markerlights are also a good indication if it's a 66 or 68.
