My question is does the 65 use guide pins on the convertible header. I called one supplier who claimed they weren't used in 65 but I'm missing something there for sure. Any help is appreciated thanks Jon
I think there was at least one pin, possibly two. There were guides like this: https://www.chicagomusclecarparts.com/products/238604
There are two chrome-plated guide pin that thread into the header bow, one on each side. The pins locate into holes in the sunvisor brackets when the top is up. Here's a link to the pin from TPP: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/pr...l-gn-convertible-aligning-pin-chrome-ea/55890
Did they always use two, or sometimes only one? I've always wondered as mine seems to have only one left.
Hi, Looks like I have the right guys on the line. So here goes. Without the top on the convertible frame should the top close and align? I'm thinking yes. Its just that mine is a little wonky now that my top was removed. Maybe that way I have only one pin.
I'm not sure what the factory setting is supposed to be, but the two pins were always about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch back from the holes. It takes a slight nudge to align them in. My car was like that with the original top, and remained the same when I removed the material leaving just the bare frame.
