I purchased this California Riviera about 5 years ago. It has always been garage parked since in a weather controlled environment.

The car engine was rebuilt by Car Connection in San Diego. The car was also running hot so the radiator was replaced with a high performance 4-core radiator (much better than the stock part) and replaced the water pump so the car runs very cool. After this last winter, we started the car but noticed it would not shift into gear - this is likely an easy fix with a mechanic that is familiar with older engines.

The power windows were taken apart, lubricated and realigned so they now track and run smoothly. Also the headlight motors were rebuilt and replaced so the clamshells open and close with the headlight switch. These were only available on the 65 which makes them so desirable.

The car interior was restored. The dash pad, headliner, seats, carpets, floormats, and trunk were all reupholstered. The dash was repainted, the plastic/chrome parts were polished and the wood trim was replaced by wood paneling that was stained a dark ebony color. The interior came out incredible and is still in brand new condition. I have several pictures of the steering wheel. It works fine but definitely could be restored or replaced.

2-6x9 speakers installed in the factory location (1 in the front dash, 1 in the grill between the two rear passenger seats). A Phoenix Gold Amp was installed under the passenger seat. To maintain the factory look, there is no aftermarket head unit, but instead a cable that plugs directly into an iPhone or iPod. If you want to install a head unit or a Bluetooth connection, this can easily be installed.

15” supreme wheels with BF Goodrich whitewall tires were installed. Also upgraded to custom bellflower exhaust tips that bend over the rear axles so they don’t interfere with the car when it gets lowered. These sound really really good, especially with the huge 402 motor.

The airbag suspension system was installed by Car Connection with all top of the line components, with no expense spared. The compressors, tank, airlines, fittings were all top grade. They have adjustable settings to control your speed going up and down. To keep the vintage look, a 9 switch box unit was installed which is concealed in the center console. The suspension is rock solid reliable, and rides very smooth – much better than stock. When the car is lowered all the way, it “lays frame” meaning the car will lay itself on the ground. Also, a hidden kill switch was installed for the air bags which also acts as a theft deterrent since there is no way that the car can be driven or towed when it’s laying on the floor.

The paint looks great from a distance. It’s a good driver paint job but looking closer there are some imperfections, which I have done my best to show in pictures. I would say the paint is about a 7 out of 10.

I have about $30k into this car. Everything is finished up except the paint and steering wheel.
